Holy cow. That was a very interesting read. It's so crazy that people would make that stuff up - it's disgusting, actually. :( But of course, you have
to be super careful with people on the Internet. There are way too many people using it for the wrong reasons these days. :-/

The article reminded me of a girl I went to high school with. Her "obsessions" were based around abortions and being raped. She had such elaborate stories about funerals and naming her dead babies every week. Every week, it was a new baby who was at an age and weight that equaled a 6 month stillborn. She claimed to be raped every day by different men, who would sneak her and her aunt into bars every night. That is how she became pregnant every week.
What I think started it all was a girl we went to school with actually had a miscarriage. Hers was at a later date and was a result of a rape. She was going to have the baby, but it didn't survive. I think that after she seen how much sympathy the girl had from people, she wanted it also. She never had friends and was almost desperate to get them any way she could.

It has been years since I talked to the girl. She is still a pathological liar and tries to corner me whenever she sees me, acting manic as she tries to quickly tell me about her newest miscarriage and marriage.
As people from our graduating class became married, she started claiming a ton of marriages on her Facebook. No one was really buying her miscarriage stories anymore, so she needed something new.

About the article: What really gets me is how these (young) girls are not even concerned about their actions. They act as though it's funny. They know exactly what they're doing and I can't understand why they would go through such great lengths to stage cancer or a baby. Alex creeps me out. She has such an enormous mental problem. Her mum should take away her computer and get her some major help.

It is a scary thought that this can happen and scary in a different way that the vast majority of internet users probably lie about something, small or big.

To be fair, the majority of real life people lie about things, big or small, too. It's just that on the internet, the choice of things people can lie about is different, and a lot broader, and the consequences are generally a lot less significant.

We've had plenty of fakers/liars here on Bloop. Including a few who falsely claimed to be dying of cancer. They tend to be so obviously fake that they're quite entertaining - I get disappointed when they delete themselves or block me for asking questions which reveal glaring inconsistencies! ;D There is a vast difference between diaries of people who genuinely have cancer and those who are faking it!

True I suppose! I have been here for years on bloop but must have led a sheltered life because I don't remember seeing any fakes... almost sad to have missed out on all the drama!

Ah, it's because you weren't reading my diary back then - I always find the fakes and write entries about them! ;D There's even been a couple of potentially fake diaries started recently, but they haven't written more than one entry - I think some people get all excited by an idea for a fake diary, write the first entry, and then get distracted and don't follow it through!

What... the... and the scary thing is I can think of at least 10 Bloopers I've come across in my years on here who don't sound unlike Beth/Alex/Jen... It's one thing to lie but it's another thing to take advantage of those who believe you.

"Think of a parent putting feces in her toddler's feeding tube (as was discovered via hidden camera in a landmark 2009 case)" Hmm... Intresting.
