guys, guys! my boyfriend and i will be one year old on march 16th.
the problem is - i want to get him something, but what?
we're not married so i can't go with any of the traditional wedding things.

so, what did you get your boyfriend on your 12 months?
any ideas? crafty things, things you have bought. dinners! anything.

what did he get you - if anything?

I was sappy and bought a scrapbook when my husband and I had been dating a year. we were long distance at the time, I wrote a letter for the first page and suggested we put our letters/emails in it to remember the first year. He ended up finishing it much later- but he added other fun stuff in it-like programs, tickets, and cards we gave each other.

for our one-year my manfriend and i sort of cheated. we more or less picked out our own gifts.
i got him a transformers bust/figurine/collector thingie that he'd been lusting after, and he bought me a gorgeous pearl necklace that i'd been eyeing for a while.

On me and my boyfriend's 12 month we got matching tattoos ;D. I wouldn't recommend that, though, but we're celebrating four years tomorrow and we're getting married next year, so I guess it worked out okay. For our anniversary this year I bought my guy a wooden wind chime...which is kind of a 'girly' gift I guess but one of our friends had one and he liked it, so that's that. Oh, and chocolate, because Vday candy is 75% off now :-p. I'd say get him something he can keep for a long time, as opposed to something simple like candy or whatever. I guess you just have to ask yourself what he's into and will enjoy then go from there.

Our tattoos are of each others initials, but they're in symbols from one of A Perfect Circle's CD covers, so it just looks like three weird symbols. And he really liked the wind chime!

My GF bought a keyring set. We each get a half that makes one when you put together.

On mine and my husbands one year of dating, I made him a scrapbook because I'm sappy like that, lol. You can make a scrapbook for a really good price at Wal-Mart. Of course I prefer Hobby Lobby/Michael's for scrapbooking supplies, when I was a poor child Wal-Mart got the job done! Lol.

Ah, I see what you mean. Josh and I took about 20 zillion pictures our first year, so we forgot about over half the ones I used in the scrapbook. Plus I put random ones in there of our dog and my cat that we liked to harass (R.I.P. Lucifer:().

There are all sorts of creative, crafty things you could do. You could hand draw a calendar, bind it together yourself, and do it scrapbook-y type things in it (pictures, stickers, marking specific dates, etc.). On our two year anniversary I took notecards and wrote "I love you" in any language I could find and hid the notecards all around his bedroom/bathroom/vehicle, also for that anniversary I made him a penguin at Build-A-Bear, lol. Ooh, for his birthday once I got him a promise ring (he got me one for Christmas '05, he got his for his birthday in July '06) and I hid the ring in a box full of HUNDREDS of itty bitty pieces of construction paper and each piece of paper had a different thing I loved about him written on it. I'm not saying you'd have to get him a ring, of course (lol), but the pieces of paper thing is something he loved.

awwww. adorable. those are all lovely ideas. :]]]]

you're full of wonderful ideas. did you come up with these on your own? i've tried to think of little things like that to do, but i'm always afraid of the cheesy factor. although i would LOVE any of that, lol.

dustin loves the giants AND dunkin' donuts. so i searched for dunkin' donuts giftcards that have giants stuff on them. i gave him two - each had 10 dollars. a silver coffee pot and two t-shirts that i thought he'd love from his favourite website. :]

gosh, and to think that a little over a month after our one year is his 20th birthday. :S lol

Haha, I have help. Bia (international) is FULL of amazing crafty ideas like that. Most of mine I either steal from her or I evolve her ideas into something that it's possible for me to do ;-).

Men are SO hard to shop for. The only time Josh gets my sappy gifts is Valentines Day/anniversaries. For his birthday/Christmas, he usually makes a list (like a kid;-D) and I buy from the list, ahahahaha.

good idea, lol. i constantly bug him about what he wants. he claims that he is not a needy person and usually doesn't want much. i know somewhere deep down he'd loved to have certain things! sheesh. why do they have to be so hard to shop for? cologne is NOT an option!

you could go to like photobucket.com or something like that and get a calander made for the year and for like every month put 12 of ur favorite pics. i noticed u said u were long distance right now. walmarts photo department sells stuff like pillow cases with pics on it. maybe u can do a pic of u holding a sign that says i love and miss u always and forever or something that means something to the 2 of u.

I have no idea what I made my bf for our 1 year anniversary (although I know I made him something, it's completely slipped my mind atm), but for our 2 year anniversary I made him a collage. It was just a huge bit of card and it was covered with pictures and photos and words that meant something to the two of us. There were maps of our favourite places, photos of us, pictures of food that we always eat, comics we both read, films we'd watched together etc, just anything relevant to us. For christmas this year I got a deck of cards and did "52 reasons why I love you", all the cards were decorated and relevant to the reason and it took ages but he laughed loads when he read them. We've also made each other cuddly toys, I made him an elephant (which was much more complicated then I anticipated) and he made me the worlds simplest bear.
It depends on where your interest lays and how much work you want to do really.
