I was looking for a cheaper version besides Photoshop as I don't have 700 to plunk down for it. Gimp was free and i was just wondering if you guys had heard of it and wanted to know your thoughts and stuff? :)

I also wanted to add that the brushes are very similar and almost if not close enough to be considered equal to photoshop brushes! They're very nice!

You could try looking through Livejournal ... I know that there are still quite a few people that use GIMP! ((I'm a PSP and PS hoe, so I don't know anything about the program, but I know I've seen tutorials for GIMP, I'll see if I can find a link for you!!)) Apparently those who get used to it really like it!

You can look here for some tutorials to get you started and see if you like the program!

Since it's free, it wouldn't hurt to DL it and give it a try - can always delete it if you don't like it!! =D

It is a wonderful PS replacement. The user interface is not as self-explanatory and streamlined, but once you get used to the controls, it's pretty smooth.
