Okay so this is my THIRD baby and I have heard that the more kids you have the quicker things progress with labor and such. Anyways, TWO weeks ago I got checked and was 1cm and 50% effaced. Last night I got checked and am now 3cm and 70% effaced and baby is at a -3 station. =D I am still having REGULAR contractions (about 8-9 minutes apart).

SO my question is...ABOUT HOW MUCH LONGER DO YOU THINK I HAVE? (i know everyone is different too so give me your experiences!)

Also, Is it true that small kids can sense labor?

Im just curious about every ones answers. I seriously doubt that I will make it another week...just from what my bodies doing.

THANKS!!!!

Honestly, there is no way to know. You probably will have the baby soon is you're already 3 cm and having contractions, but it depends on a lot of factors (and "soon" is a relative term.) I started having regular (but weak) contractions on a Friday morning, but they never got much stronger and over the next couple days, got a bit further apart, even though they were painful. My water finally broke on Monday night,, and then I finally got to the hospital (at 4 cm). I had my son Tuesday afternoon. So basically, I felt as though I was in labor for a REALLY long time because it just wouldn't get going.

It's impossible to be patient , but just get as much rest as humanly possible right now. Good luck to you. :)

Like Lauren said, there is truly no way to know. As someone who loves to plan everything, I know well how frustrating this can be. Being a -3 station means that baby is still positioned pretty high, but again - that could change in a matter of mere minutes. Dilation is only a sign that your body is preparing for labor. And hey, even if you don't go into labor for another week or two, you're already 30% as far as dilation goes. Keep yourself busy and wait for nature to take its course. At the very least, it's an exciting time of anticipation that you'll remember fondly for the rest of your life! Life offers few surprises as exciting as this. :)

thanks! im so excited! When I was in labor with my daughter, my last baby, I went from 6cm to 10cm in LESS than 10 minutes! My mom almost missed the delivery all because she went to have a cigarette! lol She came back up to the room and was like OMG! ITS TIME TO PUSH?! LOL. So yeah I know everything can be different and sometimes take days or weeks...I just wanted some inspiration! lol

I agree with everyone who said that there's no way to tell when u'll go into labor. Like u, I had a fast labor with my 2nd child. I went in, got checked and was like 4.. Then a while later I was 6 and then 20 minutes later, he was crowning and everyone went crazy. My dr just had enough time to put her gown on!

I agree with everyone. Seriously. I went in for a regular check up on a Monday at 39 weeks and was 1 cm, 50% effaced, baby was posterior and she was not looking to come out anytime soon.

That Friday I was 40 weeks, felt great, and began contracting at 5:30pm. They were 20-22 minutes apart. By the next morning they were 12 minutes apart. I began bleeding slightly around 11am.

I went to the hospital at 6pm. Was only 3 centimeters dilated and only 60% effaced. By 9pm when they checked me I was 9 centimeters and 80% effaced. I still ended up waiting forever though and pushed my sweet daughter out at 3:43am.

So only time can tell!
