are we seriously giving and taking advice on whether or not kids are allowed to stay with their grandparents? is this what we have come to as a society?

this web site is a cess pool of bad mothers.

Me asking if a couple nights a week is to much for my son to go over to his grandparents is a bad mother? really? I think if I was just dumping my child off to my parents expecting them to take care of him while I go out and do whatever it is I would be doing..THAT would be a bad mother. All I was doing is simply asking if 2 nights was a ok length of time for my son to visit or if it was pushing the length of time of dumping the kids off to someone else. Which I would not be doing but I think every couple who has kids needs date night at least a couple times a month.

Also if you think we are ALLLLL bad mothers then why comment? really.

You do not have to justify yourseld to a troll honey! if you dont feed them, they go away ;)
There is nothing wrong with your parenting....if the grandparents are willing to keep the child(ren) let them. Its wonderful for all involved if kids have a close relationship with their grandparents :)

My son has an amazing relationship with his grandparents and I am all for it, we have gotten too far away from the traditions of grandparents being very involved in grand kids lives.
Its not regular - depends on what shifts we are working - but his grandma will ask for an overnighter if she hasnt had one for a while!

And ignore the trolls. When intelligence levels raise to more than the ability to copy and paste perhaps we can treat them a little more seriously ;)

With my parents? Anytime we're there, and DH and I want to get away. We lived with them when DH was deployed. She loves her Nonni and Papa!!
Em is 5, but has stayed the night with my parents since she was little.

Never with my inlaws. Probably not for a long time!

Never. My mom lives a block away and she comes & sees the kids every day but they don't ever stay the night. She works pretty hard 5 days a week so I don't feel right having her take the kids over night on her days off. That's her time to relax & sleep in.

CV - you're idiotic, and people like you give conservatives a bad name.
Don't listen to him, OP! Asking for opinions is just fine. At least you CARE about your child.
I've wondered the same... as far as inlaws in other states. Being curious how others handle situations is normal.

well i live with my parents, so my son spends time with my parents everyday. As far as leaving him here while i go out, rarely happens, unless i'm just running to the store real quick. Havent had a date night in almost a year. My "in laws" see him a few times a month, but have never had him over night, although i think we might start letting them have him over night once in a while, since they really want him there, and he loves being there so much. He's only spent the night once without me with him, and that was with my sister about 4 years ago.

My sister (who has 4 kids, 3 of which are under 2) brings down 3 of her kids (the ones under 2) down to my parents the first weekend of every month so she can have "a break" with her husband. But her mother in law lives closer and she drops the kids there every other day.

I'll be honest - in better times when mom and I were closer both emotionally and physically Ki would stay a night every few weeks for the full night. But if I had a doctors appointment and one evening a weekend Ki would stay with her but for a max of 4-5 hours. I think the only exception was 9.11 for a few days during that time due to work schedules.
Now that mom's 2-3 hrs away the girls go down to her house for a week or two during the summer, by theirselves, and maybe for a few days at Christmas or spring break (its getting harder now that ki's a teenager and would rather spend school holidays with her friends).
With my inlaws its a whole different story. The girls USED to spend 2 weeks during the summer with a SIL but there was serious family drama and neither of my girls want to be around anyone on that side of the family after what happened this last Cmas while staying with that SIL (I had a medical emerg over Cmas so they thought it might be fun to spend Cmas with that side of the family)

Then Ki gets to spend a few days a year (mainly holiday weekends) with my older bro about an hour away. He lives out in the country and is still in college - I feel safe with her out there alone for a few hours on that friday but wouldnt feel safe with my youngest being there yet without an adult
