@My♥Holds5: Be sure you do your research on the DEPO shot. Everyone I've known who's used that for birth control has gained an absurd amount of weight (Out of the five girls I know, all gained at least twenty pounds. One gained fifty.)

Just as a heads up, in case you weren't aware that it can cause weight gain.

Have you looked into NuvaRing? Or the patch? I've known a lot of people who swear by the NuvaRing, and haven't heard of anyone having problems with it. I know a few who used the patch and had no problems as well (myself being one of them ;))

I was the same way with pills. You learn real quickly to remember taking those pills. I have an automatic timer in my head reminding me all day. Just seeing my son and hearing him cry is enough remembering to take it, ha ha. I still think its stupid how the doctors won't do it. If a man only wants 2 kids and he is 23 then they shouldn't tell him no. No Doctor IMO should tell a person if they want to be sterile. It's not right for you to have to go through a surgery after you were the one having the kids.

If you're indecisive about it, that's a HUGE red flag to not get it done. Getting your tubes tied is like..as FINAL as it gets before hysterectomy. Have your hubs get snipped, or tied off. Some vasectomys can be reversed. Tying tubes, not so much. Plus i mean....getting yourself knotted up is a BIG procedure with a lot of healing time and all that crap..him getting snipped is outpatient and only takes what, a week or so, to recover?

I want a more permanent method. My fiance had a surgery done on his man bits when he was a child and has a lot of scar tissue. The healing process for him was VERY painful then, I'm not going to ask him to go through that again for me. I'd rather make sure my bits were sterile. We're almost 30. We don't want kids. Not a maybe or possibly. But hell NO!

@bloopsecrets: I agree with u about the DEPO shot BUT the weight gain doesn't happen to everyone. This one girl I knew never gained any weight and it was perfect for her(lucky bitch LoL). I, on the other hand, not only had the weight gain but insane mood swings... Right now I'm on Seasonale and I'm having mood swings but my body is still getting use to it.

The fact that you aren't 250% sure is a huge sign that you shouldn't have it done. There are 2 types of IUD's (copper and hormonal), the Implanon (which is inserted into your arm), patches, and rings. I wasn't good at remembering to take pills either, so I was on NuvaRing. NuvaRing was expensive (my insurance doesn't cover BC so it was nearly $50/month), but it was FANTASTIC. Put the ring in, take it out 3 weeks later, bleed 3-4 days, put it back in. I loved it!

The doctors are a bit fucking hypocritical. But then, in the UK, they rarely do sterilisation in women before the woman hits 30 (older if she's got no kids) and vasectomies are usually done in over 28s. I personally wouldn't be sterilised, even though I'm pretty damn sure I'm done having kids, because I don't know what the future holds.

@Lauren: I was on the ring too and it was expensive too!! I would spend $45 every month. I loved it tho :( I'm on the pill and its $10 for every 3 months(I'm on Seasonale). Amazing price and my body is my alarm clock, my ovaries hurt around the time I need to take it. Which reminds me, time to take my pill. LOL

@Nat: I just put an alarm in my phone when I was on the pill ;D I'd set it for about five minutes before I got up, and I'd look at my phone and see 'BIRTH CONTROL' as the calendar event. It always reminded me.

@ MyღHolds5 : I'm 25 with a 6 year old, i considered getting my tubes tied because of the fact there will be at a 7 year gap between my babies, and i really didnt want to start all over again, focus on my career and my son, but the more i talked to my fiance about it, we arent getting anything major done, because you just never know what can happen.

Also, my brother and sister in law got married 5 years ago. She had a 13 year old daughter from a previous relationship. She had thought of getting her tubes tied when she was around 35 because she was getting up in age, and didnt know if she'd get married. 2 years later she met my brother, and now have 2 beautiful little babies.... 14 and 16 years after she had her first daughter...so its proof that you never know what can happen, dont jump into something until YOU are 2000% positive you dont want anymore babies.

thanks so much for that help! I brought it up to my mom and to Ken that Im not 100% sure that I want to get them tied at this age...I just know that later in life I MAY want another, and I wont my chances to be good if that happens. So yeah. I have about 9 more weeks before this baby is due and I think Ill just take that time to think about it some more. If no one likes what I decide then fine...its not there body. =D

P.S
THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT HAS POSTED ON THIS! EVERYTHING HAS HELPED SO MUCH!

I agree with everyone else..if you're not 3000% sure that you don't want it, then don't do it. Browse other options, definitely bring it up to your doctor after you have your child and explore options together with his help. I feel that tying your tubes should be the last option on the list. Good luck with everything! :)
