i LET MY FIANCE DO WHAT HE WANTS AND VICE VERSA. i GO OUT all THE TIME WITHOUT HIM AND i ENCOURAGE HIM TO GO OUT WITHOUT ME. i'M OK WITH IT IT'S WHATEVER AND WE BOTH TRUST EACH OTHER. SIMPLE AS THAT. I DON'T NEED TO BE UP HIS ASS TO BE HAPPY. WE USUALLY GO TOGETHER TO FUNCTIONS LIKE ALOT OF OUR FRIENDS ARE MUTUAL FRIENDS SO WERE FRIENDS WITH EVERYONE AND VICE VERSA. BUT IF HE DOESN'T WANT TO JOIN ME IT'S OK. I GO OUT ALL THE TIME WHEN NEAL IS HOME BUT IT'S RARE. WE BOTH WORK SO MUCH WE NEVER SEE EACH OTHER AT HOME BECAUSE WERE EITHER SLEEPING OR WORKING SO WE SPEND AT LEAST ONE DAY OFF A WEEK TOGETHER. THE REST I ENCOURAGE HIM TO GO OUT. LOL

My boyfriend is annoyingly sociable. I'm anti-social as fuck. He goes to several social events per week and I rarely accompany him. It works for both of us. Not such a big deal.

If I had a partner I would totally be the same - I think I would consider it an imposition to be asked to accompany them to loads of social events! I'd much prefer them to go alone!

I don't think couples need to be with each other 24/7. In fact, it's healthy for couple to go out separately. I think they should tell each other where they're going or what kind of party it is though. If my husband wanted to go out to a bar with a couple friends for some drinks, that's fine with me. He would feel the same if I wanted to go out too. You have to have trust in a relationship and if you don't have that then you're wasting your time.

the thing that really bothers me is that i see him once a week. maybe twice if i'm lucky. seems like he'd much rather go out then see his girlfriend who's stuck at home studying all weekend. so it's not like we're with each other 24/7

oh ok. I was going to suggest that you make a point of getting out of the house with him and go on a date once a fortnight because often people see less of each other once they move in with their partners. I guess that advice still works though.

If this is the case, why do you stay with him? Clearly he is not making you happy. And if you genuinely think he prefers going out partying to spending time with you, surely this implies he doesn't think much of you. Don't you want someone to value you and to enjoy the time they spend with you, regardless of whether they go to parties or not? Making rules won't make him love you more. Dumping him and finding someone who genuinely cares about you and enjoys your company is more likely to make you happy.

@crazybeautiful; I think the solution here is to get a new boyfriend. You know, one that cares.
