Dell Fraud

My sister bought a few things through Dell a couple years back. Dell's financing division automatically withdraws a set amount from her bank account every month.

Late last month, they withdrew the amount of her monthly payment three times within as many days. So, naturally, she was all "wtf?!" She called her bank today to sort things out. Turns out someone at Dell that has her bank account info is stealing her money. They are most likely loading it onto a card that has been programmed with her account info. Her account had been flagged for fraudulent activity as soon as that happened. She should have been informed of this immediately, but apparently, since her regular paychecks are under $500, tellers at the bank did not know about the flag, and thus couldn't pass this info on to her. Which seems kind of silly to me, but I guess that's the way of the world.

Anyway. I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this. My sister was informed that, obviously, she's not the only victim of this, and something is going to go down soon enough, and Dell's getting investigated.

I haven't had any issues with my account with them. Yet, at least. But Dell's product quality is usually less than impressive anyway (and their customer service sucks, in my experience), so I'd recommend turning elsewhere.

Yeah. I'm not counting on much happening, because I know stuff like that is really hard to catch. The bank reimbursed her money, though, so her end of things has been fixed and it's in the bank's hands now.

Well, that's awesome the bank gave her the money back. Most American banks wouldn't do that without you having to jump through flaming hoops of barbwire. LOL

I'd recommend not having dell take take the money directly from your bank account. I always just get money orders and send them in with my monthly statements. I've not had a problem with them.. but I do agree their customer service and technical support SUCKS. i'd like to talk to somebody who i can understand, THANKS.

I bought a laptop a year and a bit okay, it was wih my moms card. I'll let her know. And tech support sucs, they had to ask where Canada was. And talked too fast. And ym shit keeps breaing

wow. that totally sucks. i've never ordered from dell or even been on their website.
but i opened this because a. i'm currently useing a dell, and i just purchased a dell a few months back from best buy.
but really, i love my dell. i had an hp before and it sucked.
i hope your sister doesn't get anymore money stolen.
