I know it's way early to even be starting a thread about Halloween costumes, but I hate waiting until the last minute to figure mine out.

Since I'm severely short on funds this year, I'm racking my brain trying to think up costumes I could make out of stuff I already have, or ones that would cost very little.

I've been googling it to see if I can find anything, but so far nothing's really jumped out at me.
So I was curious if anyone here on Bloop had any ideas.

Mainly I just want something that won't make me insanely warm at a Halloween party. Other than that, I'm open to suggestions ;D

It's never too early to think of Halloween costumes! It's only a month away, anyway.
Unfortunately I don't have much to add in the way of suggestions.
You could take just a regular outfit and add a couple accessories to make it something else - like the sunglasses suggestion to be a movie star.
I did Rock Star last year - took some ratty jeans, black t-shirt, fake tattoos and sunglasses. Only thing I paid for was the fake tattoos - very cheap.

@aubrey; rockstar is an idea I've been contemplating. I actually already have everything I need. Although the fake tattoos are all sparkly butterflies, but I think that would be half the fun considering I'll be the only one at the party with no real tattoos ;D (all theirs are like skulls and band insignia, they'll probably be like 'wtf?' over some butterflies ;D)

Be a zombie. Or one of the various other things that come together with well-done makeup and not expensive costumes.

Last October, I went as a Jaffa (Stargate SG-1) and my costume was made from cardboard but I painted it with metallic paint - very cheap and the end result looked awesome. I'm so mad at myself for not taking a picture!

cardboard with metallic paint is a good option. You can also find cheap fabric for sewing (if you're into sewing). My fiancee went as Xena one year and she made the costume herself.

you can be a mummy wrap yourself in toilet paper. Do you have any leftover halloween costumes from previous years? I used pieces of past ones to make pirates, doctors, and witches.

I'm going to get a pattern to make a Dirndl dress. I think they are totally cute and would be pretty original:

awe ;D
My mom used to make me the coolest costumes. I still have the princess one she made me when I was really little. I wore it every year until I outgrew it.
It's just too awesome to throw away. I'm saving it until someone I know gets a little girl. (all these damn people in my family having boys, what is this?)

Be a cat

find some black clothing in your closet (dress, shirt/skirt, shirt/pants) go buy some ears and a tail and then use some eyeliner to draw on the nose and whiskers.... simple and cheap :-)

@fearless$hearts;love I did that one year. I had these feetie pajamas and put my hair up in pigtails and carried around a sippie cup and my teddy bear all day. It was kinda cute actually. I even used eyeliner to put on freckles on my cheeks.

I went as a purple crayon one year. All you need is a sweater and sweats in a color of your choice and that color poster board. Make the "Crayola" decorations with Sharpie. Make the tip like a birthday hat out of another piece of poster board. I stapled long hair bands to the top of the poster board tube to hold it on my shoulders.

I was an angel last year, the year I was pregnant with Chloe I was a pregnant nun, one year I was spider (take a black sweater and fill ginormous black socks with stuffing and staple it to your sweater for the legs.) Um this year, I am thinking of being a baby bottle, but I dont know how I would make it. One year I was a nerd, I had a pocket protector and everything LMAO!

Nerd is totally the easiest costume. I threw that together in just a few minutes. Let me get on my computer and embarrass myself with pictures...
