Has anyone ever tried those doggie diapers for when your dog goes into heat? I just noticed mine was in heat and I don't want to have to deal with the mess it leaves behind. I don't want to waste money on those diapers if they don't work either. Thanks you guys.

I know some people use it, but if one doesnt want to breed them, i recommend to fix them. From what I know it works good... I dont know how much it cost

I had a friend who used a pair of old panties and a regular pad. I've never personally seen it, but that is what she said she used with her dog.

Worth a try if you want to save money?

it depends on the dog really, not all dogs will tolerate them. That and they tend to work better for smaller breeds. If you dog will tolerate you putting a bandanna or other things on her then she probably will do ok with it.

They do work if you can keep them on your dog. But its a pain in the butt to have to take it on and off when they need to go to the bathroom

Tami..hubby said they work..but you gotta change often bc dogs tend to chew up bloody stuff (my dog would break into the trash over used tampons..ew)..

you might be able to use cheapy diapers and cut a hole where the tail goes

If you plan on breeding your dog keep doing that otherwise spay your girl if you don't plan on breeding her otherwise they can get cancer sometimes if not spayed and aren't bred. THe other thing that happens in they get piomitria ( I don't think I spelled it right) it is where they get an infection of the ovaries and uterous and they have to be spayed anyways. Older dogs being bred for the first time can get this which is common.
The best thing to do is go online to the pet catalog and they have where you can get cloth-like diapers adn then you buy adult femine pads for the inside and change them when they go outside to the bathroom and they are machine washable. At first the dog won't be used to it at all but after a lil bit they leave it alone. It velcrows on each side of the hip bone. I have seen them in hunter green and maroon colors with black edging on them. They are pretty nice and handy to have around if you plan on keeping a dog that will be in season. Best of luck to you!!!

spaying would probably end up being cheaper than nappies if you don't plan on breeding her.

I'd just get her fixed if you weren't breeding her.

yeah they kind of work. my roommate's dog had a diaper and then she took it off outside and ripped it apart because she hated it.

OH and don't underestimate their ability to get out of a totally fenced yard either. Keep an eye on her at all times. We had the WORST time with this stupid dog who literally got out 3x or more a week.

@yo, erin We usually put her on a lead outside and let her roam around for a few hours. Now I take her outside, let her do her business and then bring her back in the house.

I'm eventually going to get her spayed but I want her to have at least one litter before doing so. I think she's adorable and she'd have some cute puppies, but with the ugly dogs that keep coming around I'm making sure they don't mount her.

just curious, what do you plan on doing with the puppies? there's enough dogs being put down in shelters because no one wants to adopt them.

Oh ok good. Yeah you should read about the breed and how pregnancy affects the mother because I hear that their personalities can change a lot...but I don't know if it happens to all dogs. My friends were going to have at least one litter, but they decided against it...(which is a good thing because she's an idiot of a dog anyway hahaha)
