What I don't understand about this story is how the bus driver of the first bus did not notice or realize that traffic had slowed down or stopped! Buses are higher off the ground and should be able to see farther ahead than a regular motorist. Unless they were coming around a bed, I don't understand how this could have happened. Apparently, the semi was stopped or slowing down due to construction when the SUV rear ended the semi....the bus then hit the SUV and the 2nd bus hit the first one. It just doesn't make much sense as to why something like this should have even happened in the first place unless they were all on each others' butts. :( Completely preventable!

@Mummy Bunny

Even if the bus was coming round a corner (which appears not to be from pics), they would have been going round the corner far far too fast anyway, especially as being a large vehicle it will have a longer stopping distance compared to a car, so they should be more careful with speed.

that is exactly why I said that HUGE lawsuits will follow. The busses should have NEVER been going fast enough or been CLOSE enough to hit anything in front of it. It not only was negligent on their part...the driver of BOTH busses was in violation of Federal Motor-Carrier laws. I would NOT be surprised at all to see one if not BOTH of the drivers arrested as well for the death of the girl that died.

That is really horrible. I can only hope that some good will come of this. Maybe this will make people think twice about following too closely, i.e. tailgating.
