So i got my 1.5 years old female cat fixed monday morning, she came home around 4pm, she was sweet and loving later on that night and the next day but today she has thrown up what she ate and has been sitting in the window, staring outside all day. I called the place i got her fixed, got no answer, so i called a local vet, they wouldnt help me because i did not get get fixed through them, told me to call the place i got her fixed, so i called them back and they said they didn't know, but would pass my message along.. I called another vet hospital and they werent sure and gave me the number to another vet who handles the surgeries for the place i took her too, i called them and they told me to call my regular vet cause they didn't know..

So.. im reaching out to bloopies, If you can remember your cats when they got fixed, did any of you find them to be a bit withdrawn for a bit? I know she's just had surgery but my last cat was when i was 10 and i cant remember what she was like as a kitten.

I think it's pretty normal behavior after having surgery done. It's a pretty big surgery and I can't imagine it's comfortable for them afterwards. The anesthesia can make them sick - it slows down their bowels and their stomach has to kind of wake up. I would just make sure she is drinking water and keep an eye on the incision site and make sure that it isn't warm, red, or oozing. My dog acted pretty laid back for about 3-4 days after he was neutered - the anesthesia alone is hard on them.

You're finding it weird that your cat stares outside? Jesus, my cats might as well have been the Klaus Nomi of cats.

It is quite normal for an animal (including us) to suffer from sickness after an operation, it is also completely normal for animals to randomly throw up their food, especially if they're eating quickly. I assume she is gazing out the window as she misses going outside, must be pretty boring being locked in a house all day until you heal.

Honestly I wouldn't worry about it too much. After I got my cat neutered he was pretty lethargic and low key for a couple days after. He didn't eat a whole lot either. Just make sure your cat has plenty of water to stay hydrated.

You have to remember your poor kittykins went through a pretty big surgery so she's probably not feeling too hot right now. heh. She'll be back to normal soon enough.

http://www.catforum.com/forum/38-health-nutrition/80418-vomiting-after-spay.html
^^^^ That's a link to a cat forum I found where someone asked about vomiting after a spay^^

The answers seem to lead to anesthesia though, so I'm guessing that, that's what it was. I was 14 when my cat got spayed so I don't remember, I'd ask Ma but she doesn't remember shit. The only thing I remember is bathing her after she started to heal from being spayed because she stank like a skank! Boy did I get scratched up. I should have waited until she was de-clawed [that wasn't my decision to de-claw her BTW]

The best cat advice I've ever heard was this:

Get a dog.

We have both. Cat hates dog; dog is indifferent/just wants to play. I tried an experiment today. I held cat in my arms and slowly approached dog, who was behind a gate. Cat gradually started to get more rigid and growly as we got closer. Eventually, when they were 10cm apart, cat rapidly snaps her paw out 2 or 3 times and gives dog a bleeding scratch on his nose. Bitch! He didn't seem to mind, though. Or even notice, for that matter. He weighs about 50 kilos (110 pounds) so I doubt he notices much.

Ahahaha...... My 5 year old brother and I experimented as well. Ma has a small Yorkie [full breed] we took Jasmine my cat and stuck her face near his [they mostly get along and play with eachother] and she screeched and he growled. [On his encouragement, I'm weak for him] I proceeded this twice more and got the same results until we both got scolded and I went home. Apparently they don't like to meet face to face. [Oh and luckily for me she is declawed, wasn't my decision]
