Marie Stopes are going to be airing adverts soon, advertising their advice service for unplanned pregnancies, which, of course, includes abortion.

There seems to be a big hoo-ha over this, but I don't understand why. I can't imagine how scary it must be to have an unplanned pregnancy and have no one to turn to. Marie Stopes are providing an invaluable service that is likely to be more informal and friendly than the horrendous ordeal I was subjected to when I got the morning after pill on the NHS (I swear this nurse had never seen a girl make a stupid mistake before in her life. I love the NHS but such women should not be in the caring profession.)

So what is your take?

Also, probably a really STUPID question, but is abortion legal in all US states? What is Roe v Wade?

I got the MAP a couple of times back in my yoof. The first time, the doctor was really sweet. The second time, he just gave me this "Yeaaaah of COURSE it split" look. He was SO right.
You can get the MAP over the counter now. £25, but cheaper than the emotional extravaganza of an unplanned pregnancy. Having had an unplanned pregnancy, I can safely say it is the scariest shit that's ever happened. I miscarried.
My thoughts on the abortion advert are DOWN THAR AT THE BOTTOM

South Dakota is close to having fully outlawed abortion.

Other states are trying to as well.

The constitution is defined by the supreme court. It used to be 5 were against abortion, and 6 were for it. But with the two/three? New supreme court Judges that Obama appointed, and were voted on, I think the odds are now. 7-4? I forgot.

bottom line. roes vs wade can be over turned at anytime. That it's up to the supreme court. and no one else.

I don't really know. I just know that the FED government says you cant. But the states say they can. So it's a big mess.
Like how in California some medical marijuana growers that follow their state laws, still get arrested by the FEDs for breaking federal laws.
Like an example is Eddy Lepp. (Free Eddy Lepp)

Stupid Americans... If we outlaw abortion girls are just gonna start using coat hangers. *shudders* Also... I dont know why people dont think about it like this, all these girls getting abortions now... Do you think that outlawing them is going to make people start wearing/using protection? No. We are just going to have THAT many more moms on welfare.

You just totally missed what her comment said. She didn't say abortion stops people going on welfare, she saying more along the lines of if say, teenagers who mistakenly get pregnant don't have the choice of abortion, they will be more likely to go on welfare because they don't have a means of supporting themselves.

She didn't say abortion stops welfare, she said without abortion, there would likely be more people on welfare. Two completely different things (I would bring rules of mathematical logic into this, but I think I made my point. : ) )

But their wouldnt be more people on welfare without abortion that is an unfair statement. There are other options and not just abortion, there is adoption. There is birth control, which people would be more inclined to use if there wasnt just an abortion to turn to. Welfare rates wouldnt go out just because there isnt abortion, just like they didnt go down when abortion became legal.

Valid point. However, you must accept that if abortion was outlawed, not all of the people who would have previously got an abortion would necessarily turn to adoption, and obviously birth control is not working now. It is just as unfair to say outlawing abortion would create an increase in birth control as it is to say outlawing abortion would create an increase in welfare, if you want to look at it that way.

Whoa now. Let's not be putting all Americans into the same group and labeling them stupid.
Not all Americans are pro-life; and not all Americans are pro-choice.
And we each have a different way of thinking.

And I would like to think that if abortion was outlawed, that women would be smarter than to use a freaking coat hanger to do their own abortions.
We as women ARE smarter than that, you know.

before abortion was legalized, women did use coat hangers,go to 'back alley' doctors,an try all sorts of insane herbal 'remedies' to abort.
im not exactly 'pro choice' but i realized that if abortion were to be made illegal, alot of women would go back to using these insane 'solutions'
...i do agree with most of the rest of you comment tho

We as women are definitely smarter than that, but who's to say what a woman would do when put in a situation of desperation. If she doesn't have the choice (say, if it became outlawed), then who knows that she might end up doing to get the end result she wants. When panicked or scared, people can do things that we would think we'd be "smarter than that" to do in a sane mind.

I think it is a choice, the only time I would have an abortion would be if it was rape, or an incident like that...! The baby is harmless and didnt ask to be brought into this world, but if you got knocked up by your boyfriend than I dont completely believe in it...! Its their choice and honestly if you do not want a baby than why are you putting yourself in that situation to begin with...! Youc an do a lot of different things to prevent pregnancy... I honestly dont think it should be outlawed, but maybe some guidelines and stipulations...!

People need to mind their own business and accept the fact that people are pro-choice. If people are pro-life, good for them. At the same time they need to respect others who are pro-choice. Who are we to tell what a woman can or can't do. At the same time, I think it's wrong for women to use abortion as a form of birth control.

I'm talking about those women who had like 5 or more. My friend's sister had like 8 because she thought she could use abortion as a way to get rid of it instead of using birth control. That is what I mean when I say it's disturbing when some use it as a form of birth control.

My friend and I think she was born disturbed. At the age of 4, my friend learned to not trust her own sister or eat anything she made. Her sister admitted that she tried to poison her and kill her as a baby because she was jealous. How scary is that? She does have a son, he's like 8 but he is just like his mother. Evil. Proves that evil shouldn't breed.

This is why abortion should never be illegal... 'The statistics speak for themselves: 20m backstreet abortions take place annually in countries where abortion is criminalised, leading to 80,000 deaths every year. In Northern Ireland, where abortion is still illegal, women routinely present at hospitals with atrocious internal injuries after attempting to induce abortion at home using black-market pills, and face prosecution if they recover.'
