What you hate about your cellphone.

I know that we are all thankful for our cellphone. But sometimes there is just a few things that bust our buttons and make us wonder why we have one.

I personally have a Blackberry 8330 Curve.

I can have my cell in the same exact spot with full bars, and in one second, I have no bars, and than the bars come back, which kind of messes with my internet.

The internet sometimes is like dial-up. Its so freaking slow sometimes.

Sometimes when the page loads up, it starts at the bottom of the page, making me have to terrorize the trackball to get back up to the top.

I have already lost one trackball. Thank goodness that it only cost $10 american to replace.

When it gets down to a low battery, you can still use everything, but the top light blinks brightly for all messages and low battery (it's hard to ignore and makes me about have a seizure.)

I can't watch any kind of flash movie, youtube videos, play any flash games or listen to music from any website.

Also, the phone lags badly sometimes.
I don't have any apps that didn't come with the phone, but I will go to scroll down and click on an app, and the phone will freeze up until it decides to process. Either that, or I will go for an app, scroll over and it will scroll over two apps, and skip over the one I want because it lagged.

My first phone (just like the one I have now) would shut itself off and reboot everytime I put it down on a hard surface, no matter how softly I set it down.

I was just using my phone, had to reboot it because it froze up, and thought that maybe there were other people who would want a place to vent about their phones, and the things they do to make us stressed out.
(This could help people out too if they are phone shopping.)

I have the Pantech Matrix.

And I love the phone .. but it started freezing lately (about 3 months after purchase). I'll be texting ...and it'll stop, and then it'll have to try and catch up. Sometimes it has frozen so badly I've had to take battery out to get it to shut off and reboot. It happens just enough to irritate me, but all in all, the phone is nice. It also has a kind of crappy speaker lol.

I used to have the Matrix. It did the same to me. But I had mine for almost a year. It also started saying insert sim card randomly, when I'm on the phone, when I'm texting, anytime. And it would freak out when I'm texting (which yes, I'm pretty quick at it, so maybe that was it) and it would shut off and reboot. Got really annoying when you're working on a 5 page text or something.

But now I have the Xenon. Which isn't bad. Only thing I don't really like about it is its a pain to text on the touch screen and it took me a bit to get used to the QWERTY keyboard (I never used it on the Matrix, much faster on the numeric keypad) but I hate texting when I'm driving. Which I know I shouldn't do anyways. Since I got the Xenon, I've stopped texting and driving.

Was reading through other posts and thought of another problem I'd have with the Matrix. The few times I used the QWERTY keyboard and I mistyped something, it would automatically save in My Words for when I use t9. It also thought up random "words" when I was using t9. Like, I'd be trying to type "you" and it'd give me "y6u". And it'd save it. So the next time I type "you" it'd show up as "y6u". Really annoying and frustrating to have to go through your My Words and delete all the ones that were wrong.

I have that new Huawei phone from MetroPCS. It's supposed to be the "cheap" kind of touch screen. It's not a flat rip off, as it's a quality-ish phone, but it is trying to compete with the iPhone in the smaller market.

And of course, as with all touch screens, my main problem with the phone is the touch screen. You see, the phone is absolutely too small, so the keyboard sucks to use. It doesn't help that I have goddamn banana fingers. The calibration seems to fuck itself up, so I have to occasionally recalibrate the screen. I don't even know how or why that would even happen, but it does.

Long story short, it's a piece of shit phone.

I have the same phone and I HATE texting on it. The only way I am able to do is because of my fake nails, lol. I don't have any other problems with it though. It's much better than all my other metro phones I've had. They all would freeze whenever they felt like it and turm themselves off when I got on the internet. The touch screen isn't my thing though so I will be trading it in soon.

My husband has that same phone & he has the exact same problems. He has already had it replaced by AT&T under their warranty because the trackball kept messing up. Now it's messed up again & he is going to ask them to replace it with a different phone since he hasn't even had the new one a month.

I had the Blackberry Curve. I despised that phone. =X

Right now, I have the LG Env3.. It's pretty nice. I like it.

The only thing I have a problem with really is that my front buttons are starting to stick and sometimes I have to open it to send a real quick text, and use the full keyboard.
Also, when I'm in the middle of writing a text, if I get a new one, it sends the text I was writing into drafts instead of just waiting a minute. lol

You need to reload your software. I work for tech support for Research In Motion, which is the fancy name for BlackBerry.
http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB11320&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_SUPPORTISSUE_1_1&dialogID=16878743&stateId=wrong%20Id

You can find the software by googling "_______ blackberry device software download" just fill in your carriers name.
if you need any help with it i can help you. i do it about 30 times a day at work so im used to it.
The bars that are there to represent your "coverage" really suck...if you go into option and the status on your device you will see your signal strength, it should be between -40 and -90 dBm. Anything above or below that will cause issues with your data.
If you signal is sketchy it has more to do with your service provider. If you SIM is older it may need to be replaced, if your device is CDMA then you may need a replacement.
Why cant you watch youtube videos?
if you go into the native browser, the globe with an arrow icon & use the URL m.youtube.com you should be able to watch most youtube videos. I watch them all the time on my 8520.
im sad for you & your trackball. i HATE those blasted things.

I have the newer Blackberry Curve 8530. The thing I love most about it is that it doesn't have that stupid freaking trackball (a touchpad type navigation square replaced it), which is the number one reason I never had a Blackberry before this one. Oh and it's purple.. purple helps ;-). It's still fairly new to me (got it at the end of November), so there isn't much I've found that I just don't like about it. It's really hard to get used to, especially if you're used to a normal "simple function" phone, but once you get used to it, I just don't think you can go back!

I have the curve too! When the low battery light blinks, it annoys the HECK out of me too! I have to put the phone face down or cover the light so it won't bother me.

I didn't know you could buy a new ball - mine has been broken - I've been using the space button to scroll down.

Honestly, I really, really liked my "Q", by Verizon. The only reason I got Blackberry Curve was because I switched to Sprint. Verizon wasn't very "deaf friendly" - my texting got me a $500 phone bill then I asked to switch to unlimited texting, Verizon told me it would cost $99/month for unlimited texting when Sprint cost only $29.99 for unlimited texting/internet/etc. So I switched. But the reason I really loved the Q is because it's so hardy. I've dropped it a million times. I've lost it outside to find it the next day, buried in snow then another time, buried in mud. I've dropped it in puddles, etc. It never once stopped working or gave me an issue.

I have a Blackberry 8110 Pearl. I have similar issues with it...must be inherent to most Blackberrys.

The page often loads at the bottom. So I idly flick the trackball upwards while it's loading, and that way it actually puts me at the top of the page.

It'll randomly freeze, sometimes when I'm doing nothing more than checking the time. And sometimes so badly that I have to remove the battery, and then it runs the security check and takes even longer!

I can't customize the uploaded songs I use as ringtones. Like, say, using the chorus of a song rather than just the first 30 seconds.

THE LAG! OMG THE LAG... I've actually accidentally called people because I'd be texting, open the menu to send the text, and the trackball moves me to "Call so and so" and boom, it's connected before it registers that NO, I in fact DO NOT want to call so and so.

And! When I plug it into a computer to recharge - a computer that doesn't have any sync programs for Blackberrys - and try to use the camera while it's plugged in, it completely obliterates any recognition of my media card (and the card slot itself) until I remove the battery and reboot it. My phone IS my mp3 player, so that scared the poo out of me the first time it happened.

I have the same phone. I had to get two replacement handsets in the first 6 months because they kept crashing and turning themselves off... to the point that the second one wouldn't turn back on! (And then when I phoned by phone company to complain about it someone had the nerve to try and convince me the problem was the battery, even although the battery was full charged. They eventually realised it was the handset afterall)

But I'm on my third handset now and have no complaints about it. And I've never noticed a time lag. I've never used the MP3 player though.

And mine plays YouTube videos OK.

I have the Blackberry Storm, the first version and the main problem I have with mine is that it will freeze up at the most inopportune times. I can be in the middle of trying to place a call and it will freeze so I'll have to take the battery out and reset it.

Or if like I'm at work and leave it sitting on the counter for about an hour without using it, then when I wake it up, I get that black square with the timer looking thing moving around it. Ugh. So annoying.

I think that's most blackberries though.

No, that's just the storm, I have one as well. I used to have to do several battery pulls daily.
Although since the last OS came out my problems have disappeared.

Do you update your software?

Er well. I know that I receive emails to my phone when there's an available update.
Do you have blackberry desktop manager installed on your computer (it comes with the phone, a CD in the box)? It checks for updates to your phone when you plug the phone in and start it up.

I checked mine just now and it searched for updates. So I'm pretty certain that it'll do the same for your storm :)
