I am quite tempted to ask for one for Christmas, and it appears the two biggest contenders are the Sony Reader and the Amazon Kindle. At the moment I am leaning towards the Sony Reader as it's a little smaller and comes in PINK!
But I have no experience of either so was wondering if anyone could help me?

I have a kindle. I love it. I don't use it much though because I still prefer the old fashioned smell of a paperback.

I'm with you. I like being able to actually physically turn the page of a book. xD I haven't yet jumped on the bandwagon of eBooks. Don't know if I will for a long time!

I only use it if we take a long trip or something. Otherwise, I stick to my books.

I have the Kindle app for my iPod touch because I'm poor and can't afford the Kindle, lol xD. To be honest, I've never played around with a Sony Reader, but I've played with Kindle's and I think they're super awesome. I'd have one if I had the money for it!

I wonder if they make one of those for the blackberries and how much they are.

My friend has a kindle and I love it! I want to get one for Christmas too! I think the Kindle would be better cause it's more known and probably has more titles available for it. I am not sure about that though. The kindle was pretty nifty though!

I took a writing workshop this summer and all of the speakers were published writers. One mentioned the Kindle, and I think it is a cool concept, but I would prefer to wait a couple more years when the cost of publishing to one and the cost of buying one goes down. Not worth the money if there isn't much available for it just yet. Maybe wait until next Christmas?

That's what I was thinking. eBooks are really expensive, especially in the EU because they add VAT! VAT isn't added to paper books so it's completely retarded.

This is my thought. I would like to get one when they are better and have more features, and also cheaper (which I believe will happen in a couple of years). I like reading PDF files on my laptop in Foxit Reader, because you can change the background colour and the font colour, and you can underline and highlight in different colours. I would like to be able to do this with a Kindle, and also have the option to change the font. But at the moment they are pretty basic and you can't do those things.

The only eLiterature I'm reading is fanfic. I like holding books. It isn't like your favorite novel is going to take up that much more space. Plus, you don't need to charge it. Everything is THERE. Why complicate things?

I think they could totally be better than paper books if they start making options where you can change background colours and fonts and stuff - they will be jolly useful for people with visual stress.

I agree. I like being able to hold the book. We're too dependent on technology as it is, why add to it?
