I'm sure this won't help seeing as how I don't have a recipe but my friend makes homemade mac and cheese and then bakes it. I had never had it baked until she did that and now I won't eat boxed mac and cheese ever again. Of course, if you've already thought of that then ignore this :p.

Boil the noodles, but not completely cooked, leave them just a little tough. Strain, then put back in the pot with a tablespoon of butter, and lots of cheese. I like to use New York white cheddar, gorgonzola, feta, and a little parmesan, and you pretty much just melt it on the noodles, while you fold everything in on top of itself instead of stirring. You can tell when it's done because the noodles aren't tough anymore, and you should have most (but not all) of the cheese melted. There should still be a few lumps here and there, but the cheese should be stringy (like the cheese on a pizza when you take a piece from the whole).
Doesn't really sound appetizing, but it's the best mac and cheese I've had in my life.

My family & I have been trying to figure out how to make the perfect cheese sauce, other than just melting the cheese.
If you make a roux (is that how you spell it?) where you melt cheese, butter, and a bit of flour in a pan before mixing it with the pasta.
Or you could cheat and use Velveeta. :-D

I hatefully admit I've never had homemade mac and cheese, I've always had boxed. But when I make boxed, I add 1/4 cup of milk and some butter and that's the only way I can eat it, lol

P.S. I know people who put tuna in their mac and cheese as well...but I've never been brave enough to try it

We're actually having our baked mac & cheese tonight for dinner:-)
1-1 1/2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni *we just add as much as we decide we want that night*
1/2 cup of margarine
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 cup flour
1 3/4 cups milk
8 ounces velveeta

Cook macaroni as directed on package
Cook & stir margarine, onion, sat & pepper over medium heat until onion is tender
Blend in flour
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly
Remove from heat
Stir in milk
Heat to boiling, stirring constantly
Boil and stir for 1 minute; remove from heat
Stir in cheese
Place macaroni in ungreased 1 1/2 quart casserole
Stir in cheese sauce
Cook uncovered in 375 degree oven for 30 minutes

We also like to get some shredded cheddar to sprinkle over the top of it before we put it in the oven. ENJOY!

People eat ready made macaroni cheese? I didn't even know that existed! Though in my supermarket the other day I saw ready made mashed potato; not the powder, but actual mashed potato that just needs to be heated up. I think I've seen it all now.

1 KFC Bucket of Original Recipe chicken
1 Jar of Mayo.
The Cheese.
Flour
Kerosene (Anything flammable really)
Some Balls (if you don't have any, grow some)
1 metal bucket
some matches

Get the KFC bucket, Pour a whole jar of mayonaise on it. Then The Cheese, microwave that shit, pour flour all over it.
Then pour some kerosene on it. Put it in metal bucket, get some balls and go to a bridge, light that shit up. Throw it into oncoming traffic.

Run back home.
