I wouldn't let my girls get seen in short shorts and heels at 16 i can tell you!
she wasn't poledancing though. but still inappropiate IMO.

The heels I agree with! Being an Aussie though, it would be mean of me not to let Lexi wear short shorts (within reason)... it's just, normal here... with the weather.

I don't think she was pole dancing. I don't even think she was dressed inappropriately! She had short shorts on yes but she had boots on that covered the bottom half of her legs and a very full top that covered everything but her arms. I think she looked ok. To be honest I dressed, danced and did worse than that when I was 16 and 'despite' that I've only ever slept with my partner and had my first child when I was 20 and I turned out ok, I think!!

Ok the top is not very full now I watched it again, but her boobs aren't hanging out or anything. Still don't see anything wrong with it!

I don't think it's so bad - like a lot of people said, she's just being 16 - it's hardly stripper style pole-dancing, it's just a bit of showmanship.

Also - how much control do you really think she has over her act? She's produced - she has a million people telling her to do different things, she has people picking her clothes and choreographing her - of course, she has free will, she can say no - but at the risk of pissing off management? Who has the confidence at 16 to think that they know better - if peopel are telling her it's cool and it will sell, she could easily fall into that. It in no way makes her a slut - fact is, even at 16, sex sells, and the music industry knows that. I hope that it stays on stage, and she's able to continue with a normal teenage, non-slutty life off stage - but take a moment to think before you start pointing the finger and judging her sexual morals based on a tv performance.

I wasn't pointing the finger OR judging her. I was asking for opinions and I kept my own personal opinion to myself.

I dont see what the big deal is to be honest. She barely dance, she just held onto the pole while they pushed it. people blow the littlest thing way out of proportion. She could have had on some looser, slightly longer shorts, but for the industry that she's in, we all know that sex sells, even with minors, so whatever. I couldn't actually listen to it cuz I'm at work, but I'm sure the worst thing about her performance was her singing. I think it was age appropriate and she should not be compared to Ms. Spears, whom I actually love!

I just watched the clip of her "pole dancing" if you can even call it that. She wasn't doing anything provocative... and she wasn't taking her clothes off. Sure she's wearing super short shorts and a small top. Whatever, she's a teenager. First off, if we prosecute everyone who wears next to nothing in public, we'd be prosecuting alot of people. What about kids / teens who go to the beach in bikini's? Are we going to call them skanky and "bad girls" and a bad influence to teenagers everywhere? NO. Because they're just being a teenager. Pole dancing these days is more of a sport for lack of better words. You can take classes to help you stay healthy and all that jazz.

As for the Dane Cook bit. I thought it was fucking hilarious, and he is completely right. But I don't think that that was the place to make such a statement. The look on her face was excellent tho. It was like.. "Omg Dane Cook is shouting out to me!!"...."O...Oh.... :|"

if they replaced the pole with a sapling tree that she was holding onto and dancing next to, would anyone be freaking out? The only reason it was a "pole" was because the verse was talking about clubbing. but she seriously didn't even dance on it. she did like 1 dip on it but was still like 1 ft away from it when she did it.

and the fact that she is a "disney" star really shouldn't make a difference as to how people view her. she's no different than any other 16 yr old singer. by the way, does anyone remember that pop sensation Selena often wore a bedazzled BRA on stage during her performances? and that was like 15 years ago!

if miley was actually POLE DANCING that would be one thing but that was so far from pole dancing it's not even funny.

They freak out because they look at Miley Cyrus as some role model for their kids, despite her rocky history with risque photos plastered all over the internet and being known as a wild party girl. I laugh at every single mother who posted on this thread that was all outraged by this.

I watched the video out of curiosity...firstly she's definitely not pole dancing. She's standing next to a pole, which is for some reason on an ice cream cart. Strange, but in no way sexual.

But am I the only one who could see her bra? It was clearly visible the whole time. Not from the front, but from the back. Sure I've seen way worse from other artists, but for someone who is marketed towards kids, I don't think she should be dressing like that.

And that's the most thought I've ever given Miley Cyrus. Apparently I'm really desperate for ways to procrastinate today. :)

You're not the only one, I agree with you. The bra is pretty obvious. That's more inappropriate than the dancing on the ice cream cart. what a weird prop.

People on here who think that this litlte so called "pole dancing" is unappropriate for miley to be doing at 16. And that she's a horrible roll model. Look around. There are girls all over the place that are quite a bit younger than 16, who do a lot worse.. And these kids know more than people give them credit for. My friends 12 year old daughter walked into the house singing "Love Game" I asked her if she knew what that song meant.. She said yes and told me.. Her 14 year old friend.. is not considered a homewrecker (yes from destroying a marriage) I have another friend whose daughter just turned 9 and knows what "teabagging" is.. Her mother was floored when she found out her 9 year old knew what that term meant.

These little girls arn't as stupid as people make them out to be..

But why does no one make a huge fuss out of them doing this stuff? It's cause they are not in the spotlight. And nobody really seems to give a crap about what awful things children are doing, and just decide to pick on a celebrity for something innocent.

Maybe I am a little old fashioned but I dont think it was an approperate routine for something like that. I get that it wasnt the actual "act" of stripping but I'll tell ya what, if I ever saw my daughter doing something like that I'd be floored.

Gosh that poor kid. She looks awful! All spindly and awkward moving. And nobody should ever wear hotpants. Unless they are Jessica Simpson. I've never ever seen anyone else look right in them, yo! :-o

Cyrus's parents need to pull her to one side and not say "Dude, don't be dancing on poles and wearing short shorts!" but rather "Gosh! You are dressing like an 8-year-old in drag! Sort it out!"

I didn't see anything wrong. She didn't pole dance. She stood there hanging onto the pole. But her shorts were too short for her. Along with the dancers clothes. I don't think that's very good for a "role model" to be doing. I know I wouldn't want my daughter (if I had one) dressing like that.

Oh goodness. She wasn't pole dancing. In those heels, if I were up on a moving ice cream cart without something to hold on to, I'd surely fall off! lol But she should have been wearing more clothes

Wow. If that's what is considered pole dancing then what the hell do strippers do? The girl was holding onto something while dancing on a moving cart. I'm sure if it were anyone else it would have been such a wonderful performance. Beyonce, Mariah, Jessica Simpson, Brittney Spears, Madonna, Lady Gaga.. anyone BUT her. She can wear a color eye shadow that somebody doesn't like and it's "OMG like no she didn't". Give her a break. Welcome to society. It's not like it was 10yrs ago when those of us in our 20's were teenagers nor is it a bit like what it was when our parents were growing up. Society changes and this is a change that will continue to happen. You can only teach your children what you want them to learn and what is expected of them. It's her life, her choice. Hell, when Brittney came out with "Baby One More Time" she got criticized for wearing a sports bra and jogging pants. I mena give me a damn break.

My opinion is that I don't personally care one way or the other what she did, I can see everyone's perspective on this.

It is not anything abnormal as far as what a normal 16-year old girl would do. I think that some people have a problem with it because she's a "role model" to young girls. Everyone is always talking about how sexual kids are these days at earlier ages, so the question is are pre-teens and teenagers like that because of their role models doing those things? And if more of their role models behaved in a less sexual way, would society then change to the point where younger people aren't having as much sex? Sex sells and sex is everywhere, but does that make it "right"? And should someone like Miley be held to a higher standard than regular girls her age?

No offense to anyone, but 16-year old girls are not "women" and they are not even "young women". They are girls. There has been the argument made before by some people (not on Bloop) that the younger girls become sexual, the more you have certain sick men seeing young girls as a sexual being, and the more they become sickly fascinated with young girls, then the more molestation and pedophilia that you might have. [That's not to say that it's the only reason or that it is even a huge reason, because once someone is sick enough to see a child as a sex object, then it doesn't take much to send them over that edge into molestation - however, one COULD make that argument.]

I'm more surprised that nobody has yet mentioned the pictures that she sent to her ex-boyfriend of herself half-naked, showing her boobs, and in the shower when she was 14 or 15 years old. Has nobody seen those? Is that appropriate? Just because other teenage girls are "sexting" and emailing sexy and nude pictures of themselves, does that make it right for Miley to do it also? Or should she not do it because of who she is? She is supposedly portrayed by her publicity staff as a very virtuous girl who should be a role model to 10-year old girls, so I'm wondering who wants their 10-year old sending sexy pics to their little 4th grade boyfriend just because Miley does? At what point is it okay to do that?

Lots of people at least have to admit that people do "copy" what celebrities do in our society, especially in America. I'm not sure if that is the case in other countries though but Americans are really sex-addicted people in a lot of ways. If we weren't, then they wouldn't shove sex in our faces all the time. I know where to find sex if I want it, why do they seem to feed it to us so readily?

Anyway...that's just my thoughts on it, and again, I don't personally care what she did because I don't have kids, I'm well over 16, and I am not a fan of hers. lol.
