I met my husband in an msn chat room that I used to run years ago, he was in a relationship and I didnt even want one....we were friends for ages before it became anything more.
I am all for meeting people online..having said hat tho I met some creeps...had coffee with a guy and was bitching about the married men who pick up online and how sick I was of it when my profile was VERY clear I wasnt interested in anyone who was already taken :P he got this funny look on his face and went....er.....didnt I tell you? THAT coffee never even got finished ;)

i met my boyfriend on a chat line like 3 years ago but we didn't keep in touch...and one day, three years later, i called him cause his number was still in my phone (amazing that i'd still have his number after so long...AND that he still had the same number!) and we started chatting as friends again, he came to see me cause we'd never seen each other before ( I know that was risky...cause wat if i didn't like him or he didn't like me) and well...we ended up doin the nasty all night lol...and we are still together even now lol

I met my husband on yahoo chat 7 years ago. I was 17 he was 21, we tried dating, but the distance caused issues, we live 2 hours apart. So we remaind friends for a couple years, tried dating again when I was 21, once again the distance caused issues.. then at 24 we started dating again, I ended up moving out here and 5 days after my 25th birthday we got married, and now we are expecting our first child together. And we each have one of our own.

I suppose I technically met my husband online. I was mutual friends with his sort-of-girlfriend-sort-of-ex-girlfriend at the time and we added each other on MSN messenger through them. We talked online (he was at college) for over a year before we actually met in person. We were from the same county and his parents on live about 15 minutes from mine, so it's weird to say we met online knowing how close we lived, lol.

I met my fiance on eBay. He bought something off me. Because he lived near me I dropped it off for him. That was a bit over 3 years ago and we now have a 6 month old daughter :D
Not exactly a dating site and neither of us were actually looking for someone but we did meet online.

I met my current husband on a dating site... Yahoo Personals and Match.com, we had profiles on both.

I had tried eHarmony, but I was "too unique" to be matched with anyone there.

The first meeting was really funny - he was a short Asian guy with long hair and heelies on. He turned out to be a really nice guy, and we clicked very quickly. We ended up inspiring some people to try internet dating.

But, I had to wade through a lot of bad dates before I found him. :P

i don't think that bad dates should turn people off of online dating. i mean, i've had a ton of bad dates too without online dating. i think that because it's a newer idea, people over criticize.
i didn't meet my boyfriend online myself, but my friend met him online and i met him through her. and we live together now, it turned out great.

I met my husband on a first person shooter game. not kidding. our first 'meeting' was actually kind of hostile and he thought I was just some guy with a chip on my shoulder until someone later corrected him about my gender.

I met my husband on Opendiary.com in 2002. Obviously it's not a dating site, and neither of us were looking. I just got him on 'random' and left a comment. ;-D Oddly enough, he started his diary on my birthday the month before.

My best friend met her boyfriend on match.com. They are talking about getting engaged. Neither of them were on very long before they were matched. :)

Oh, and as for the meetings-
My husband drove all the way to meet me after we talked via email and the phone for 2 and a half months. I met him in a movie theater parking lot by the mall. We met alone, but had friends nearby and we all hung out together that day. He also met my parents.

My best friend met her boyfriend at a Target.

I met my husband on mate1.com I was bored one night and made a profile. My husband "emailed" me and that's all it took. I met him at his work which at the time was a grocery store and we hit it off. He came over on his birthday July 18, 2005 and he has LITERALLY never left.

I met my boyfriend on Bolt.com (social networking site aimed at teens), almost 10 years ago, when we were 16. Because of distance issues, we didn't meet face to face until four months into our relationship. My mom drove me all the way to his town (an 8 hour drive) and I stayed with him for Easter weekend '00. I moved in with him less than two weeks after I graduated in '01. hehe

It was the same with me-my husband and I were in our last year of high school when we met online. My dad called Chris's high school and verified he really went there! lol.
Poor guy, he was actually called into the vice principal's office where she asked "are you talking to a girl in Alabama?"
He was so confused about how she knew, lol!

yeah, me too. It was so embarrassing at the time but now it's funny. Well...it was funny then too. :-P

Also funny-I had met him 3 times in person already, but my mom still called him my 'internet boyfriend' to my aunt-while in front of me. I was just like, thanks, Mom. thanks a lot. you have met him-he is an actual person :-P

we are so telling our future kids this stuff. ;-D

Well, she met him when I met him, at the 7-11 in his town. Public place and all that. Then we all went back to his place and met his family, so she could judge whether or not I should be allowed to stay with them for the weekend. My mom's extremely paranoid, but at least she knows when to give in and let me do my own thing. :P
