Hehe cos it has never made mine any better, and I have tried two different BC pills, both resulting in need-to-stay-in-bed-all-day-and-eat-chocolate type cramps ;)

Only thing that ever worked was when my friend gave me some of her mefanamic acid pills.

One girl I know has cramps so bad that she's had to be checked out at the hospital for it, and the pill has never helped her. Must just depend on the person.

Yeah it does, I had the mefanamic acid pills and they didn't work for me, they do for my sister but her periods are irregular so the first day is always very crampy, she gets sickness as well. The pill and the rod stopped mine straight away and made mine lighter, it made me :)

Haha. Well I have very short periods, like 2-3 days, and I only have cramping for 2 days so I can cope *just about* with it.

But the first pill I tried messed around with my moods and emotions so much, and now I have found one that suits me I am not going to go through that old song and dance again and try any more ;D

I was on microgynon 30, no more cramps, or spots and gave me bigger boobs! What more could I ask for?!

Oh no thanks! I was on Femodene, now on Yasmin which is my god send. As long as it doesn't make me pregnant. Let's hope!

I'm on microgynan, and my chest is bigger than it was before I took it. I always assumed it was because I'd gained weight. Perhaps the microgynan does deserve part of the credit. ;D

I think it might also have to do with the reason behind the horrible cramping. Of course it's not going to work for EVERY female, but it does work for many. I just know that when I'm on the pill, I barely notice the cramps at all, but when I'm not on the pill......I'm back to my teenage years where I miss three days of activity every month because they are so bad.

Yeah, but employers certainly didn't like it. lol I got so many write-ups from bosses because of it, and no amount of explaining the reason behind it would allow any leniency. As if they thought I was lying about it or something.

sorry butting into this convo.
my cousin would get AWFUL cramps with some Pill's as well... and some would lead to awful migranes too. I think she tried about 6 different types before she finally found one that suited her in the end!! It's mad how they can effect each person differently

Ooh yeah my first one would give me a 3-week long headache, as well as terrible mood swings - I'd just burst into tears for no reason and I am NOT usually like that!
The pill kind of scares me lol.

same with her, her emotions would be all over the place as.
I can only the Mini Pill and the previous ones I had gave me awful side effects and CAUSED cramping.. but I'm finally on a good one although I had to come off it for a month because it made me bleed for about 4 weeks randomly. Which it does say in the instructions it can do. Typical. Find one that suits you and theres some kind of fault some where!
I'd really rather no be on any hormones, I don't like that it messes with my body but I've not long had a baby [who was concieved due to a fault with a condom lol] so I feel extra safe being on this as well lol

Maybe for you, lol. But I know people personally who are VIRGINS, and on BC because their periods/cramping are extremely painful. Some BC (IDK about all, so that's why I didn't say ALL) helps make the periods lighter and the cramps less painful.

Almost all BC pills say they help with cramps. Mine are meant to.

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure. And I'll bet someone would have jumped on me and started saying I give out shitty advice if I said all. Haha.

My parents actually argued about me going on birth control. Dad was for it (he had his first child at 15), mum was dead set against it as she thought it would encourage me. I was 15 and had 14 and had actually asked to go on it to control my acne... it was nothing to do with sex. I think it comes down to educating the child... if you just put the child on birth control and don't explain it all... then yeah, you're essentially saying go and have sex, have fun now that you can! A lot of it is education.

That being said I was 10 when I got my period and would NOT have understood why the hell I had to have pills. I think it really depends on the age of the child. To me, 10 is too young... however my friend got her period at 15 (lucky bugger) and that is an appropriate age. Even 14. At 10 I didn't even understand why the hell I was bleeding.

The Mama

I have never asked my mother that question nor would I ever want to know. Honestly, I dont believe its any of my daughter's business. I am married to her father, whom I've been with since we were young (as far as she knows or is concerned). She's also only 7 years old, and I doubt she'd be asking me that anytime soon. She gets pissed off as it is when my husband and I talk about having sex with each other (1, she has no idea what the act of sex really is, and 2, we dont actually refer to it as SEX, but as "code words".)

before you have kids... or kids of that partiular age.. it's easy to say "I'm going to tell my kid this and this at this age"
I did it/do it, too.
I thought I'd start explaining a few things to my daughter once she turned five... but here she is, five years old and really isn't ready to be knowing alot of things.
She has a best boy-friend at school.
I asked her if she holds his hand and she said yes
and I asked if she's ever kissed him/ him-her and she said "No, we promised to be best friends forever"
[or something along those lines... she mumbles sometimes during a sentence lol!]

She knows the difference between boys and girls [which i'm guessing she got from school!!]
I think within about a year or so she'll be ready to know more about kissing and why we do it.
But at the moment I'm saying no puberty and sex talk until she's nine
but who knows.. she may start asking in depth questions before then.
but because she's at a catholic school I'm hoping the "god made us all" thing will keep her curiosity at bay for a while lol

it really does depend on the child I believe.

Finally Mrs. Bailey

I'd love to be honest, but I would be afraid that it would somehow backfire. You see, I went on a bit of a "sleeping streak" when my fiance left for another woman. I am NOT ashamed of how many partners I've had, even if it was only once, but I would hate to have it back in my face when I confront my son or daughter, whichever I may have years down the road. I would hate for them to say "Well you slept with __ people before you were 20!" when I was busy trying to guide them in their actions. I know me, and if my mother told me how many she had and then tried to confront me, I'd use her words as a weapon.

If asked, I'd try to go on with the general conversation, but I think I would avoid the question. Maybe when I have children this will change.
