So I am bored at work, having my own pity party since I am working until 11pm on the 4th of July, and I want to feel a bit better by hearing people's worst job ever.

I work retail, and one day a little girl decided to pee on the salesfloor. Not the worst thing ever, but guess who had to clean it? I wasnt happy. Although I did later realize the irony behind her doing it right in front of the potty training baby dolls... :-/

Oh ugh, that reminds me of when I worked at Kmart.
Some little kid pooed. And decided to smear it on the walls of the ladies room!

I walked in and just looked like 'wtf why is there chocolate all over the walls.' Only to realize how bad it smelled and what it was.
Needless to say I did a swift 180 and called my manager. rofl.

They had to offer up a gift card for the store before any of the stock boys would clean it ;D
It was THAT bad.

Omg believe it or not, that happens from time to time in my store as well! What is with people?! I was only there when it happened once. I heard my manager tell my boss (Keith) to grab the mop and bucket because there was something she needed him to do. He didnt know I heard that, and he always tries to pawn the things he doesnt want to do off on me (not in an a**hole boss sort of way, but just to be a pain in the butt because we're actually friends). I didnt hear her tell him exactly what it was, but by the time I got out back, he caught up to me and was like "Oh, Darlene (manager) has something she needs you to do.....", and I was like "I dont freakin think so." and walked away. He told me all about it later xD

I worked on the 4th as well but I got out early enough 2 do stuff during the day (9am)

Id say mcd cuz of that place I can't eat there not onli I gained 10 lbs that summer they have ppl who drop spautlua (sp) (I'm onmy phone typing)

And not clean it and they dun wash their dishes they rinse it out for the rest of the day uses and they had ants crawling all over the place the pop machines they rarely even clean those and all over the back

If the truck didn't come with food we had 2 use yesterdays salad and porfats to sell when we are not supposed to since they are only good for 8 hrs or 4 hrs (we dated and timed the bottom)

Certainly nowhere near the worst job evar, but it's the worst one I've had:

Working graveyards at Chevron. Minimum wage. No hazard pay whatsoever. The doors were locked all night, yet I'd be constantly harassed by all kinds of people. It was the only place open 24/7, so I'd get the creepy people coming by at 3am that had just gotten booted out of the bars. Admittedly, though, one of my best customers (who I still talk to, more than three years after quitting) used to come by around 3am. He was always sober, and he had a beautiful deep green 'Cuda. Made me jealous.

Two seedy hotels were next door to the place, so I'd get a lot of visits from junkies and hookers. The transgendered hookers were always amusing, though. I'd get randoms coming by to hit on me, to just chat, to yell at me, to get me to call them an ambulance because they got their ass kicked, or to beg me to use my phone because the payphone wouldn't work.

I had to open the doors at about 6am. Presumably people from the Triple O's (fast food place attached to the station) would be around, so I wouldn't be alone...but that wasn't always the case. But you'd be surprised how irate commuters get when they don't get their daily coffee and newspaper. I often had people come by as early as 4am demanding coffee because they were going hunting. Bah. And the truckers... Most of them were evil, cranky bastards. It's not my fault you can't find the fucking PetroPass, and no matter how much you bitch at me, I still can't give you fuel for your rig. IT'S. NOT. POSSIBLE.

When gas prices got high in the summer, people would actively blame me for it. Cuz, you know, I HAVE THE POWER!!!!

The highlights of my shift (which was 10 hours - 11pm to 9am) were talking to my contact across town every two hours (we'd often spend those two hours chatting anyway), and the last two hours when I got to go outside and clean the grounds. Most relaxing two hours of the entire shift. Srsly. :)

My coworkers were a largely good bunch, though I didn't see much of any of them. The station also changed hands while I was there, and shit just went downhill from there. At one point, after the old owner retired and the new one took over, the other graveyard chick was doing next to nothing on her nights, thus leaving me with a huge mess to clean up. I'd get reprimanded for "not doing my job," and when I explained that I had to make up for what the other girl missed BEFORE I even began doing my own work, the owner didn't believe me. He continued to treat me like crap the rest of the time I was there. I got sick of it, and quit. On my last day, I was forced to train two newbies for dayshift, when I myself only had four shifts' experience doing days. I was kind enough to stay an extra hour to help the poor kids, but only because I felt sorry for them. The boss could go fuck himself. :P

In the end, the whole thing was a loss. I worked four days, then had four days off. But those four days off would be spent sleeping. So I had zero social life. It was stupid. :(

Gosh that does sound like a sucky job. The price thing made me laugh, I used to work at Arby's and people would always do that to me because their prices were so high. It's not my fault they sold a 7 dollar sandwich, if you didn't like the prices go next door to McDonalds lol.

I still get bitched at for high prices, even working at a retail job. People, I don't set the prices. Yes, the place around the corner has some cheaper stuff. So walk the 50 feet to that place and leave me alone :P

OR, ya know, DON'T come to the ER for an ingrown hair next time. Just a thought ;).

I used to work at a kids play centre... and it was an ok job, watching kids play all day, and then playing games with them... until they would pee, or worse.. poo in the ball pits!!!
You hear about it happening... and dont believe it, but let me tell you, IT CERTAINLY DOES...
And worse, the manager didnt make the girls before me clean it. I took it on myself to clean it! so gross

needless to say I quit that job quickly

this i guess it my worst, but sort of best job. i worked at a subway for two years. it was owned by an idiot, then he sold it to his even worse friend. the first year and a bit was fine. my boss was a doofus, but he was friendly and also trying to get another subway up and running so he was hardly there. joy! so me and the two girls he put in charge as managers used to just do whatever the fuck we wanted.

as he was an idiot, and a stingey bugger, when things broke they often stayed broke for a while. the worst was when our air con broke in summer and stayed that way for two weeks. myself and another dude were the only ones available to work, so we were working long ass shifts [ten hours usually] in a tiny space in 30 degree heat, with the five fridges pissing out hot air into the store. not fun. i would not have eaten the food, and i didn't those two weeks. this also meant the computer would over heat and not work. so we had to manually open the drawer and write down every single sub we made.

then when the owner sold it to his mate we thought things would be sorted, because his mate seemed like he had a good head on his shoulders. wrong. he would fix things himself, which was never a good idea. he didn't have the air con on ever because he didn't want a high power bill [like the fridges weren't doing enough 8|] thus the computer constantly over heated. he kept blaming it on being an old computer, despite me saying over and over again that the heat was causing it to shut off. he would lose it over how much salad we put on subs because he didn't want to buy the correct amount of salads to last us the week because he's cheap. he accused us of stealing money, which really fucked me off. he was forced to hire four newbies when all but me and another girl jumped ship, and rather than training them up on the basics before showing them how the register worked, he just threw them in the deep end. none of the newbs knew how to the the register working and often put through the wrong thing. i ended up telling him that you can't through them on reg when they're still trying to figure out everything else and that if he was going to accuse me of stealing i'd be quitting then and there. i didn't last another month. i gave him a weeks notice and left. when i did leave i found out he was underpaying everyone but about $5. he couldn't do it to me though because his mate had paid me the correct wage. probably explains the hostility i used to get from him, having to pay me fully and all.

happily though my brother, who ended up working with me for a while, informed me that our old subway has been egged for three weeks running which is probably the best thing i've ever heard in my life.

My worst job was working at 24 Hour Fitness in the childcare. Apparently, the parents could give three shits if their kids were sick, screaming, violent or if they had socks on (health code violation if they don't have socks on), they wanted to work out. I never got lunch breaks, I never got a break period. Sometimes I'd work 12.5 hour shifts without a break. I was constantly screamed at by parents because they didn't have their ID to drop off/pick up (seriously, how did you DRIVE there without your license?!). There were days where my shirt was covered in snot, vomit, spit-up, sometimes pee... yeah... it was bad. Also, even though I wasn't trained, I was sent to work the front desk a lot of the time and get yelled at there. I also had to clean the women's bathroom/locker room constantly because instead of firing the lazy custodians, they just had me do extra work. I stayed for a year before one of the trainers asked me to be his nanny. I was barely making minimum wage and the worst part is, I only got a 50 cent raise the entire year I worked there. The best part? I've gotten 5 letters from them saying that their database was hacked and my personal hiring info could've been stolen. This was 5 different times too. Lovely.

My worst job was working in a 100 year old mental institution. The patients weren't necessarily the scariest part it was having to walk through all the underground tunnels which were damp and cold with single bulbs of light hanging from the ceiling. Rumour had it that all the rooms that the tunnel's were connected to (which were locked) were where they did experiments on people. Straight out of a horror flick. It was the creepiest place ever! they tore all the original building downs so not so bad for the people that work there now.

I used to work in psych and there were cockroaches in the corridors at night and I had to get past them whenever I was called to the ward (psych wards are quite fun places to work though. Or at least mine was. We had a good team though.). It totally freaked me out. I was advised never to go into the medical records office at night either because apparently someone once went in there at the night and the "wall moved" because it was covered in cockroaches. Oh, and one day one ran over the foot of one of the receptionists. Eww.

Worst job I ever had was when I was a student. I worked in telesales (only for a few months as I hated it). I had to phone people and try and sell them kitchens. It was awful.

Working in medical records (another student job) was pretty awful too.

Woah surely there should be traps since it's a hospital? That's insane. I have a major phobia of cockroaches, I wouldn't have lasted 2 seconds in there!

Apparently because the hospital (it's a general hospital, I just worked on the psych wards) is HUGE, it would be too expensive to fumigate the whole place. Although one of the secretaries told me they once sent a guy down underneath the psych block to fumigate the cockroaches, and as he was crawling along amongst the bugs he saw two green eyes glistening in the dark... then another set... and another... turns out he'd stumbled upon a family of foxes! Living under the hospital.

Honestly, more like a zoo than a hospital. :P (Scarily the same hospital, has been chosen to be explanded to become the biggest hospital in the city as part of centralisation of services) I don't work there anymore. Thankfully I've never seen a single cockroach in my current hospital!

And they terrify me too. And apparently they can fly. Which was all I could think of when I was jumping over them in the corridor. :-o And you're not supposed to step on them because then you just spread the eggs. Disgusting.
