I was sexually abused by my stepfather at 11 and I didnt fucking feel up other kids, neither have most sexually abused children. This kid is just fucked in the head and needs to be locked in a mental institute not a prison.

Just because you didn't have thoughts of doing such things as a result of your abuse, doesn't mean other children don't. From my experience of working in psychiatry, many people who have been abused as children later develop innappropriate sexual thoughts and feelings, which they often don't know how to cope with. Not everyone is the same.

That said, he doesn't necessarily have a psychiatric illness either. He does need to be properly assessed and probably given psychological therapy though.

I think a psychiatric hospital ('mental institute' is rather incorrect these days) is probably not the place for him. And he does still need to be punished. So I would guess the best place would be some sort of young offenders institute, but with the appropriate psychological support too. He's probably young enough that he can still change. But then I don't know the specific ins and outs of the story.

DEPENDS ON THE AGE YOU ARE ABUSED TOO - BY ELEVEN YOU'RE OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE A 'NORMALITY' TO COMPARE IT WITH. IF IT WAS ALL YOU'D EVER KNOWN, YOUR SENSE OF NORMALITY WOULD BE TOTALLY FUCKED UP. BESIDES, IT'S BOYS, RATHER THAN GIRLS, WHO STATISTICALLY CONTINUE THE CYCLE OF SEXUAL ABUSE, POSSIBLY DUE TO DIFFERENT BRAIN HORMONES AND OBVIOUSLY DIFFERENT GENITALIA!

"neither have most sexually abused children"

I wonder where you get that idea? Some do, some do not. It depends on the child. But you cannot say "most have not", because really that's not true. Just like sexual abuse can cause some people to become highly promiscuous and self destructive, it can also cause some people to become hermit-like. But "most do not not" is a gross misrepresentation of the statistics of those who have been sexually abused.

you're lucky then. this kid may have been exposed to abuse longer than you, and come to think of it as normal. some think it's normal, others don't.

So sick. Something must of happened to him. A 12 year old boy shouldn't even think about doing that or know how to do that. A grown adult shouldn't do things like that either. But wow.

Nobody is saying here that EVERY child that has been sexually abused will abuse or that EVERY abuser has been sexually abused. I was abused by someone that was abused as a child. I was also abused by someone that had never been abused in any shape or form. Some do, Some don't. Plain and simple. But it does have lasting effects on a child. And he had to have learnt that behavior from somewhere, by seeing, hearing, or experiencing it himself. And his lack of apathy and his sense of not even trying to defend his actions suggests that he thinks this behavior is fine. So with that said, his parents need to be investigated to see how their 12 year old little boy has learnt this behavior. Either way, it's the parents fault, no kid is born a rapist.

Now don't get me wrong, if a grown man was to do this, then I would not point fingers at his parents, but as a parent you are supposed to protect your kids from these kinds of things. At 12 years old he shouldn't even know HOW to rape someone. I mean I'm all about teaching your children about sex. But because they know about sex doesn't mean that they are all of a sudden some little horny bastards.

i wouldn't mind knowing if the parents think he was abused, as you said no kid is born a rapist.

Like posts have mentioned, nothing is ever black and white and there are so many factors in this case that we are not aware of and therefore can't really make judgement. I can see Makayla's point about blaming the parents but we don't know the situation with the parents, perhaps this boy isn't living with his parents? Perhaps he is already in care because of prior abuse? Or perhaps he has been through abuse which his parents are not yet aware of? Who knows.
Although I can understand why people will feel angry and disgusted when reading that a 12 year old has raped a child but I think it's sad that people say how this makes him "fucked in the head" or that he needs locking up for mental illness. He's not necessarily mentally ill.
Having spent over a year myself caring for a child who has sexually abused another child I can say that it really makes you look at things from another perspective. These children are not evil people who are intent on hurting others. These children need love and care and support in breaking the cycle of abuse.
