So I had always dreamed of this huge fancy wedding where i was the princess and my world revolved around me in this beautiful huge frilly princess gown. However, I watched my sister plan a mini version of that. After watching her go through all the tideous planning and the lack of effort from her bridal party ( i was a last min add to the bridal party bcuz i was away in the army and no one knew when i would be home) and family members. and how unhappy she was while planning and i remember a number of times how my family repeatedly said i just cant wait til this is over with. i dont want my wedding process to be stressful, unhappy, and my family to be so irritated by the whole process that they just say i cant wait for this to be over. i want people to say i never wanted ur day to end it was a blast. so this is my new dream wedding.

maybe about 20 of my closest friends and family on the beach watching my husband and i say our vows. me in a nice simple sundress and barefeet. him in a nice pair of shorts or slacks (his choice) with a nice tropical breezy button up shirt and barefeet. I want a simple little bouquet of flowers maybe a pink roses and lilies. my bridesmaides will have one long nice lily.
then we will probably get a hall or something maybe go to a park idk. there is only 2 musts for my wedding....a) DJ is a must music is very important to me. b) there is no wedding without cake. My dad can cook the food for the wedding. But afterwards i just want like a cookout reception nothing real fancy.

All in all my wedding should be real cheap and simple. Unlike my sisters mini gala of a wedding. I already promised not to put my family through that whenever i get married.

So....what is your dream wedding????

T-shirt, jeans, Las Vegas. Simple, cheap. Too many people I know spend more time, money, and effort on the wedding than they do on their marriage. I'd rather have a boring little wedding, and an amazing, exciting, happy marriage.

I'm not going to lie, I still have a little bit of a wedding fantasy, but to me, the wedding doesn't matter near as much as the marriage. Besides, who wants to start their marriage out totally broke? Weddings are too expensive.

Small weddings are the way to go. I didn't have this over-the-top wedding, it was simple but I had like 100 guest. It is very stressful. I think if I would have had a shorted engagement it wouldn't have been so bad. I was engaged for a year and 3 months. I saw the more simple the better. Also, the less time to plan it is better too.

I agree about the shorter engagement thing. My husband and I were engaged for exactly one month shy of 2 years (he proposed August 26, 2006 and we were married July 26, 2008).

OMG, funny story about the butterfly release...we wanted to do that too but my pastor wouldn't allow it due to a bad experience in the past. Apparently the butterflies come frozen and they're "supposed" to thaw before the ceremony. Well I guess they didn't thaw enough and when this couple went to release them, they just fell on the ground, frozen solid! He said it looked like someone cleaned out the grill of their car! lololol.

Uggg this is so girly... and yet I'm doing it. LOL

meh, something small and simple. Closest friends and closest family only at the wedding. Almost like eloping. But I say why spend tons of $$ on a dress you'll only wear once? I figure try the good will. if not, bust out an old prom dress! Then after that have a good sized reception with friends and family, not just the closest of them. Have something simple to eat. But I say it mostly consists of dancing and watching the distant cousins get drunk and make fools of themselves. LOL.

My partner and I are luckily on the same page and want a small beach ceremony, with close friends and family and nothing too elaborate... and for a reception a BBQ or something quiet that isn't going to cost us something stupid. I would much rather see our money go into a home, or raising our daughter, than in to a day that really can get put well and truly over the top.
