After coming in second place on 'Britain's Got Talent,' Susan Boyle was reportedly rushed to a private hospital on Sunday after suffering from an "emotional breakdown."
The Sun newspaper is reporting that Boyle checked into The Priory, a private clinic in London, following her Saturday night loss. According to the report, 'BGT' aides contacted the police to inform them that Boyle was behaving strangely in her hotel room.

Boyle was then taken by ambulance to The Priory. A source says that "she agreed to go voluntarily. She didn't make a fuss. The paramedics calmly took her out through the main lobby and into the waiting ambulance."
Television company TalkbackThames issued a statement regarding Boyle, saying that after the 'Talent' finale, Susan was "exhausted and emotionally drained. She has been seen by her private GP who supports her decision to take a few days out for rest and recovery. We offer her our ongoing support and wish her a speedy recovery."
The singer had showed signs of distress and mental fatigue in the lead-up to the finale of her show. Boyle, who shot to worldwide stardom thanks to an Internet clip of her singing 'I Dreamed a Dream,' nearly pulled out of the 'Talent' finale thanks to crushing media interest.
Despite her massive fame, she came in second place in the 'Talent' finale, coming in behind a dance group called Diversity.

This is really sad -I hope she'll be okay and I agree with Ev about the sudden transaction from her quiet life into this world of fame and endless critics.
Also, during the Finals, Susan really didn't seem herself. She looked completely out-of-it mostly :S

I think this is really sad. She must have been under a ridiculous amount of pressure and I can see how someone who was previously a nobody could find it difficult to cope with that. I hope she recovers soon.

well if she suffered an emotional breakdown or whatever just from the competition, she was clearly not cut out to do the life that would possibly come afterwards if she won right?!

well she's been basically shy and kept to herself her whole life. and people aren't exactly very respectful of her, so i can imagine this would be pretty difficult to adjust to. i hope she'll be ok.

On the news tonight it has said she is fine, just very tired and needs a long rest for a few days. They also said she hasn't been taken there under the Mental Health Act like many reports have suggested and that she went willingly :)
I hope that reassures people a bit. I admit, I'm not a fan and I don't think she was cut out for BGT which this shows, but I do hope she's ok.

To be fair, there's a difference between being cut out for a talent show, and having an ability to cope with the pressure of constant media speculation about your chances of winning, negative reports about your appearance and behavior, and global fame. No-one could have seen that coming. She probably just hoped she'd sing for the queen and that would be it. I don't think she ever wanted all the attention she's recieved.

Personally it sounds to me as if she had health problems before this (probably a personality disorder of some sort). It's hardly surprising that she's struggled to cope.

I totally agree. Everyone keeps saying "She should have known what to expect" and "She shouldn't have entered if she wasn't prepared for fame" but there is a HUGE difference between fame and being torn to shreds cruelly and unfairly by the tabloids. I think the Sun and all those other toilet-paper-newspapers that took a fragile person and kicked her when she was down should write a public apology. How was she to know this would happen? I don't recall that it's ever happened to this extent before... and the worst thing is that I can't help thinking that it was because her "look" was out of the ordinary that they saw her as an easy target for cheap stories.

I feel bad for her. I think people are being way too harsh. I'm not saying I think she should have won or anything; I just wouldn't want anyone to have to go through that kind of shit, not even my worst enemy. Some people have the tough skin to get through it, but some people are more sensitive than others. Different strokes for different folks. I'm sure she's being judged very harshly. I wish her all the best and hope her record deal is well received, which I'm sure it will be with many people.

To me, she looked drunk. Not a one-off, but alcoholic. She has the skin of an alcoholic. I could be wrong, but she was certainly acting ODD during the final.
Be that as it may, I can't say I would have reacted any differently.

I don't know if she was drunk or on tranquilizers or something but I also noticed she was acting very strangely!

Did you see the skirt lifting? She seemed incredibly relieved to have not won.

HAHA - YES, YO, I THINK SHE WAS RELIEVED. I DON'T THINK SHE WAS DRUNK OR ON ANYTHING. SHE JUST ISN'T TOO GOOD AT EXPRESSING HERSELF APPROPRIATELY, AND I THINK SHE WAS VERY OVERWHELMED. DID YOU SEE THE INTERVIEW FROM A WEEK EARLIER WHEN SHE DID A HUGE HIP WIGGLE AND YELLED 'PIERS'Y BABY!' LIKE, SHE IS ALWAYS LIKE THAT!

Whilst I don't think it's fair she was put under such a harsh media fire... it DOES show she probably isn't cut out for the harsh reality that is the celebrity world. Anyone knows that if you go on BGT or any equiv show that you are going to subject to some sort of notice...
I hope she makes a quick recovery and gets the rest she needs. I also hope she doesn't give up singing, as she has a beautiful voice. But I think she needs some good PR.
