PLEASE ONLY ANSWER THIS IF YOU HAVE ACTUALLY FLOWN BEFORE.

I can't call the airport at the moment because if I wait on the line for the required 11-18 minutes they said I will run out of pre paid money!
If your willing to call for me, I will love you forever [http://www.southwest.com/about_swa/luvbook.html]

I need to know what type of identification it would require for me to get on the air plane, my license or birth certificate or do I need both? I flew before but my memory is really THAT BAD!

I've never needed my birth certificate to fly. Most airports just check an I.D. (driver's license) to make sure it matches the information on the plane ticket. They usually check for I.D. when you're checking your bag, and once again when you're going through security. You don't actually need it to board the plane, though.

I hope I wont need my birth certificate I do believe it was required when I went to Canada, my Father has it and he is going to wonder why I need it and I don't want to tell him I went until I get back because of his heart condition thing. I am downloading Adobe Reader so I can read the terms like \/she said\/. Everywhere I looked online though said that I should be fine with an ID just an ID or a passport but I am making sure BTW it is within the US from Tampa Bay, FL to Long Island, NY

You won't need your birth certificate. I've flown about 100 times and have never needed. They're only interested in photo ID.

You just need a photo ID to fly domestically. You can use your passport as that ID, but a driver's license works also. The new laws regarding travel between the US and Canada (and Mexico, Bermuda, and the Carribean) go into affect tomorrow (June 1). You will now need a passport (or a passport card) to enter these countries as an American traveler.

If it's a domestic flight your driving licence should be sufficient. They won't be interested in your birth certificate as it doesn't have a photo on.

Why go in a plane when you can simply use a broomstick? :P

SURELY you can't get on a plane with a high school ID?? In the UK photographic ID is a driving license or passport. I'd be shocked if the US was different. Particularly as whenever I've flown in the US I've found airport security to be extremely tight. My sister did say when she flew out of New York she couldn't believe how little security there was, but then that was pre-9/11. I think things have changed since then.

Possibly age dependant... I know when I was in high school I could use mine... but as soon as it was past the expiry date then I had to use other ID

You have to have your photo taken and have your finger prints taken and apply for a visa before you can enter America now.

You're right. A high school ID card only works when you're under 18 and flying with a parent. My friends 15 year old brother had to apply for a state issued identification card to fly with his school for a band concert because he was not flying with his mom. And especially since 9/11 it's gotten strict which is why I believe you need a STATE issued ID or passport or Military ID. Anyone can get a highschool ID card for crying out loud!

Well if you're in high school & that's all you got -- you can use it. I know my brother used it all the time when we flew. [He's 23 now, so he uses his drivers license.] I've flown a bunch since 9/11 & security has definitely changed A LOT but as long as you have some sort of I.D. that shows your face & name that hasn't expired, you're good.

Apparently not anymore. From what other people are saying, the rules changed today to drivers licence, military ID or passport only. Which is the way it is in most countries already.

Although I will say, photographic identification based on the fact you aren't a child, would be considered normal.

Yeah I should be fine, I googled it and looked at that one file thing and I even called my friend Kitty. They all said pretty much the same thing, ID is required and a credit/debit card birth certificate is only required if you have children under a certain age with you. Since it is within the US I must have my ID!

I would say that your ID or passport would be fine. Normally, the only time you'd need your birth certificate (I'm guessing in the absence of a passport) is when you are leaving the country.

Ah that would explain needing it to go to Candida. Thank you, because if I did ask for it my Dad would be very suspicious and seeing as I am not telling them until I get back that would be bad!

Yeah, that would raise suspicions. Haha. Make sure you use your original birth certificate if you ever need it though. Otherwise, it's an useless piece of paper.

That was quite a story you have, by the way. Isn't it great when you get blessed with great parents...biological or otherwise? :)

You don't need a birth certificate to enter Canada. You need a passport though.

You can't fly out of the US without a passport anymore. They won't even let you use a birth certificate + ID.

Its pretty lame.
