surely it isn't your job working at a daycare to wean a kid off of his dummy.. one would assume that would be the parent's responsibility

you'd be surprised what some parents expect of daycare workers...some parents think daycare workers are supposed to do everything and the parents dont need to do anything...

It is a parents responsibility, but the day care providers need to work with them as they obviously have the kids during the day. We did the same when I worked in daycare.
The problem I found though is that a good number expected us to wean them and they didn't incorporate the weaning at home. Same as toilet training... the parents would have us chasing their kids around all day whilst they have accidents and then they'd put them in a nappy to go home and have them in nappies from then till they were in the next day.

I KNOW! some parents just NEVER worked with their kids at home!
