aww well thats nice to know :) so you live in america I'm guessing?....I'm from the England (:
yeah i used to think that they wouldnt be able to contact much but he told me that there aare so many ways of contacting now so thats reasuring :)

well, 4 months.....Thats another thing, people will also think that because we haven't been together long, it won't be too hard if we split or something, but it would break me, really would, and to be honest he really doesn't want to either.

Yeah, I live in America :).

Well when he goes to basic they only allow letters and they're able to call once. I don't know how it works there--it could be way different. I've had friends tell me that their SO's have been allowed to actually call them on their own cell phones. I think it's different everywhere though.

Four months is still a long time to be with someone to have them leave for the military. I wish you both the best :).

Yeah, well its not going to be too bad to begin with, he has 32 weeks of training where they get to use their mobile phones whenever they have spare time, and will have week holidays where they can come home, and some weekends etc. its just after that which will be more difficult, but to be honest, thats in about a years time, so I think it just depends on how well it works out as time goes on.
Yeah It is, but im so proud of him already and i think the best thing is to support him and be there for him because at the end of the day, they are in the worse position, risking their lives for all of us, so they need SUPPORT and RESPECT! Thank you :)

Well I think that's great that he'll be able to use his phone--makes it a bit easier!

I met my boyfriend when he was already overseas, and I've actually never gone through boot camp or anything with a boy--just deployments. After mine got done with Afghanistan he went straight to Germany and I didn't see him until Christmas.

You're right, they need all the support they can get :). I have serious respect for them actually.

If you ever need anything, we're all here for you!

My now-husband and I started dating when he was out here in California for some training, only saw each other on the weekends for those first 5 or so weeks right after I met him, and then he got transferred to a base in Virginia. I stayed here in California because he was in such a heavily-deployable unit and was expected to not be stationed at one place for more than a few months at a time. We spent over 2 years doing long-distance, including 2 major deployments and a bunch of little ones. It was hard, beyond hard at times, but a situation like that causes you to be more open and honest about your feelings and needs and wants than you would be in a "normal" relationship. We got married on his week of leave right before he shipped off to Iraq last year. I didn't see him again until we had been married for nearly 8 months. He finally got stationed out here again in Cali and we have been able to live together for the first time for the last 6 months. I am now pregnant and he is preparing to deploy again before the birth. Most of the time military relationships just make you face worst-case scenario situations and you either find a way to get through it together and grow from it, or you just realize you aren't cut out for it. But it's true what they say, military girlfriends/wives are some of the toughest girls you'll ever meet. We have no choice but to be strong.

My husband is in the Army and yes it's hard but if you are willing to make it work it's very rewarding. I wouldn't change a thing about it all. Yes there are days when your gonna hate the choice but once you get over that little hump everything starts to ease up. Im starting to get ready for my first deployment and i know its gonna suck alot but i know it will make the love we have for each grow stronger.

I wish you the best of luck with your soon-to-be military relationship. A military relationship is extremely difficult, but not impossible. Just takes a lot of trust and dedication. If you don't have trust, you have nothing, really. It's a huge test. It'll help you learn to communicate better, and create a relationship outside of the physical relationship you're used to. Like I said, not easy at all, but if you have what it takes, it's very rewarding--from what I've seen. Good luck.

And thank you for your support ;)

Aww thank you for your reply, was nice to hear...Yes, well like i keep saying, it is going to be a test, and we will see if we can make it. If not, it obviously wasn't meant to be. If it does, I know that my life will be amazing for a long time to come :D....difficult but like u said, rewarding :D

Well, you definitely seem to have a good attitude about it, and it's great that you're so supportive of him...He's definitely going to need all the support he can get in the time to come.
