I DO LOVE CANADA, YO. ALTHOUGH, ALAS, I COULD NEVER FIND A VERY GOOD RANGE OF CHEESES IN THE GROCERY STORES. JUST THIS DREADFUL ORANGE RUBBERY STUFF THEY CALLED CHEDDAR AND THIS WHITE RUBBERY STUFF THEY CALLED MOZZARALLA! THAT IS MY MAIN GRIPE ABOUT CANADA, YO!

AND YES, THEY ARE BETTER AT GETTING BRITISH HUMOUR, AS RED FRAG SAYS. THEY HAVE THE WHOLE SELF-DEPRECATING HUMOUR THING GOING LIKE WE DO. THEY TOTALLY THINK I'M FUNNY TOO, YO! LIKE EVEN WHEN I'M NOT INTENDING TO BE! THEY THINK I'M A VERITABLE ECCENTRIC!

I can find a whole range of cheeses at the grocery store down the street. It's a smaller store chain, though. They actually care about their customers. :P

I've seen Camembert and Stilton (without fruit!). I'm sure I could find much more at the Mediterranean Market around the corner instead of at the grocery store down the street. lol

You might, but many Americans don't. That's obvious enough just from being on Bloop. Lol.

Ignore that comment. I thought I was in the Americans forum!

Yes, Canadians definitely DO get our sense of humour. ;)

i love living here, but we do have a sort of national lack-of-identity. we can only seem to define ourselves in terms of what we're not (americans) or in comparison to others. *shrug*

Our identity revolves mostly around beer and hockey. Case in point: Molson Canadian commercials.

molson's most famous ad campaign involves a guy telling everyone what he's not (namely, american). ;)

I actually like the newer commercials better than those old I Am Canadian Rant commercials. Much more hockey oriented!

For the record, I had no idea what a J Stroke was. I's not a good Canadian. lol My husband found that hilarious. But I'm a prairie girl. He's from the coast, so naturally, he'd know. :P

I was so amused that Wolverine was Canada in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He has this great line where Strike yells at him that he has a duty to serve his country, and Wolverine replies, "I'm Canadian."

It was the first time it had come to my attention. I don't think it was mentioned in the first three movies, and I haven't watched or read X-Men since I was a kid.

Still, a great line!

Northern Alberta, to be exact. It was mentioned only briefly in text onscreen, though, so I'm sure a lot of people overlooked it.

I think it may be time for me to re watch all the X-Men movies, cause I completely missed that.

( Oh the things I do when Insomnia is kicking my butt at 230 in the am lol )

I went and dug out by "everything marvel" book (which I must say my oldest daughter stole from my box of childhood items years ago lol ) And found this...

In the comics series the character grows into manhood on a mining colony in Northern British Columbia, adopting the name "Logan".

;) What can I say, when its 230 and nothing is on TV but infomercials and strange strange programming on MTV - you will find anything to do to not be bored to tears

I have never been there :( I lived in Vancouver for a while, which is awesome, but that's as close as I got. My husband is from the Island, though, and he still maintains that Victoria is the most beautiful place in BC. I think Kelowna's the most beautiful place in BC, but I might change my opinion when I visit Victoria. hehe

I really don't think too much about Canada.
It feels more like an extension of America.
As ignorant as that may be to say, I feel I've been there enough times, (probably 2-3 times a month for 18 years,) that I can rightfully say that.
