Take aways? Is that the same as "take-out"?

I can see why she'd be large then. But IMO, the only people who should be considered for surgeries such as lap-band or gastric bypass are those who are excessively overweight BUT are actually DOING THINGS to try to lose weight. In otherwords, those who don't see it as a "quick fix", but rather just one step in a lifetime of healthy lifestyle choices. The surgeries do absolutely no good if you continue to eat as you were before.

take out = take away. the wonders of language.

i agree about that surgery. it doesn't work as a quick fix if you mentally aren't there.

if you cut out soft drink [or soda or whatever you call it] that does wonders. soft drink's really good at keeping weight on. so even if you exhausted yourself exercising, but still drank like 2 litres a day the weight won't shift. i stopped drinking soft drink, or anything too sugary and started walking like an hour a day and i lost 16kg's. even little things can do a lot.

Yeah, I've never been a big soft drink drinker either. I drank nothing but water until I was 16, and then a few glasses of vodka and coke and wine (not together) started slipping into the routine. ;) I drink diet coke too now, even without the vodka!

I hate soft drinks as well! Wine is so much better for you anyways, as long as you keep it in moderation yo!

I've given it up for 3 months now, I don't think you'd notice anything in 3 weeks :P

well all that took me about six months to notice anything. and even then i didn't notice, others did. i didn't give it up to lose weight either, it was just making me feel very ill and i couldn't be bothered paying to catch a bus ;D it's a slow process if you're just giving soft drink up and nothing else, but cutting it out is a good idea. it keeps weight on and makes you dehydrated, which makes you drink it more.

I can totally vouch for this - when I cut out soft drink I lost weight within the first week. And I am someone who has a REALLY HARD TIME to lose weight, as I have PCOS and can exercise and eat weight till I'm blue in the face, and lose NOTHING. Kick out the soft drinks for success!

I'm starting to cut out the soft drinks as well. and i really don't eat as much fast food anymore these days either. and i started buying carrots and apples now for when i want something semi sweet or treat like. though i will admit i do have a container of all natural vanilla ice cream in the freezer. but i haven't touched it since i bought it. it's just sitting there....teasing me. i decided i wanted to lose i little weight while i still can (as im trying to get pregnant).

I have totally been inspired by this, yo! Not to do a weight-loss diary, but to try and record what I'm eating each day.

It might turn into a weight-loss diary once I get an idea of how bad I am at the moment.

GOSH, YO - BRILLIANT! LUNARSEA LOSS! I SHOULD MAKE A PUCK LOSS DIARY! ALTHOUGH I DON'T HAVE SCALES, SO I'D HAVE NO IDEA IF I WAS LOSING WEIGHT OR NOT. THE NAUGHTY SCALES I BOUGHT FROM ASDA ARE RATHER UNRELIABLE, YO - ONE DAY THEY TELL ME I'M 18 STONE, THE NEXT DAY THEY TELL ME I'M 2 STONE!

I'd be bloody impressed if you were eighteen stone! You'd have to be insanely tall, yo, or really truly have a giant bottom.

I have started using a site called mealopedia.com - I was put on to it by another blooper!
I haven't lost weight, coz I'm pregnant... HOWEVER, in the first week my partner has noticeably lost weight. I think the main key is to really work out a balanced diet, coupled with exercise (and his is very simple exercise - he walks the dogs). Not ever meal on the website is the healthiest, but it has helped us to change up the diet a bit, have some different foods... and with working out a plan and shopping for the week, rather than every couple of days.. we've not wanted to eat out and are enjoying the variety. There are lots of great recipes in there, and they are incredibly easy. I also adapt a couple according to taste, but it is fantastic.
