I agree with Danielle..Its going to take time if you do it her way though. Iv been doing it the same way and in 3 months have lost 5lbs..its not much but im not really heavy to begin with just wanted to tone up...but it does work

And anyway, as you said in your other post about the episode itself, not every fat person is lazy. Some of us bust our asses to lose weight. We eat right, we exercise regularly, we burn more calories than we take in, and yet we STILL have difficulties losing weight. So OBVIOUSLY "calories in vs calories out" isn't foolproof. For many, there are other things that cause them to keep the weight on no matter how many more calories they burn. As I said on the first page, it's not as cut and dry and some people obviously seem to think.

No, I wasn't suggesting everyone would understand Transit's comment. I was just explaining for those who couldn't have seen the show.

And of course it isn't fool proof. There are many things which can affect a person's ability to lose weight, such as their metabolism (I know I find it harder to lose weight now that I'm getting older and my metabolism isn't quite so fast!) and health problems such as an underactive thyroid. Still, the general principle is true. Although there are other factors too (and the girls in the documentary were just lazy).

I understand that. It just annoys me when people give advice like "eat less, exercise more, that's THE WAY to lose weight", when there are so many people doing EXACTLY that and they just don't lose weight.

I agree. But I think the point is that Danielle was rather stating the obvious. And Bottom didn't ask HOW to lose weight, she asked for an online diary to record her diet... the fact that she even asked for such a thing suggests she is well aware of the calorie in vs calorie out concept. ;D

And I watched half of that episode of The Hospital (it was on too late for me to watch the end :(). It was pure brilliance. So tongue in cheek. They really showed those girls for being the lazy, I-take-no-responsibility-for-my-own-health types that they are.

(For the benefit of anyone who didn't see it, I'm not saying everyone who is overweight is lazy and takes no responsibility... but the girls featured in the show were quite happy to eat and eat and not even TRY and lose weight themselves, instead they just wanted a surgeon to give them a gastric band, and take the easy way out)
