I have to pick out a bridal gift for my cousin's fiancee's bridal shower.
I took a look on her bridal registery; and I dont know what a new married couple really needs.

She has serving trays, serving plates, hostess silverware and dishes, pots and pans, washcloths and towels, dish cloths, silverware, glasses and cups and plates.
Wooden trays or something, serving bowls, small appliances like mixers and such, baking things, shower curtains, bedding, pillows or soemthing...

What does a newly married couple really need or want?
What was something that you asked for, received and used a lot of?

It depends on their living arrangements, too. My husband and I had just moved into our new house shortly before our shower - so we registered for all new sets of dishes and such. That was something we really needed and wanted - until then, we were using hand-me-downs. Which are perfectly fine, but we wanted our own for our own house. So that's something to consider, too. Something else that we really wanted were some of the small appliances, like a deep fryer, and a mixer. Something I was bummed we didn't get, was our bedding - but it was quite expensive, so it wasn't surprising.

Something that got good use would be thing like our shower curtain, towels, pots and pans, dishes, etc.

I would also say it depends on how well you know both of them or how close you are with your cousin. I got one cousin of mine a bed set that was on her list, as I hadnt seen her in close to 15 years, another cousin of mine, I got engraved picture frame that was silver (their names and wedding date) as well as some fun stuff for their honeymoon (they did a world-wind tour so things like extra batteries for their camcorder and dig camera, a hand held translator etc)

:) I thought about that to be honest, but they arent really that type of person sadly. Or another cousin and I could of had a whole mess of fun.
Sadly his bride blushed when her mother gave her a "teddy" at the hen's party

If it is on her list, my guess is that she wants or needs it.

My husband and I live in an apartment and we basically registered for most of those items. Mainly kitchen stuff only. I would get a few things that she registered for and maybe one thing she didn't. I like the element of surprise and I got a few nice gifts that I didn't register for. Getting novelty items that say bride and groom are cute ideas too.

One couple got my husband and I the best gift we could imagine, and it was quite simple! They took a laundry basket and filled it with things like dish detergent, laundry detergent, picture frames, candles, toilet paper, paper plates (because they knew that Josh and I hate doing dishes more than anything:P), paper towels, a couple of towels and a couple of wash cloths, and then on the bottom some fun stuff for our honeymoon ;). I can't wait til someone else I know gets married so I can do the same thing!
