So, I'm having an 18 year old take care of my son tonight. She will be staying here at my parents house but she will be the primary caregiver. I have known her since she was born, and she wanted to take care of Evan, and had been asking me. So, She will be babysitting saturday night from 8:30pm until he falls asleep. Her being a family friend (We're like cousins) she doesn't care about the "price" and says she will be happy with $5.00. But, yeah right.

What amount is appropriate for this night? I have NO idea, as my only babysitter has been my MOM and I give her what i can.

What is something reasonable?

When I used to babysit I would get anywhere from 20-40 a night depending on the kids and how long it would be, or how the kids were like if the parents knew they weren't the best kids to babysit they would give me a little more lol.

15 dollars an hour? What the.. hahaha that's a load. She's not proffesional or anything. That's what I'd pay a pro! Thanks sweetie :)

Yeah, you'd be surprised how much a pro can make. I could make bank when working for this one babysitting agency. Sometimes parents would bring all their kids to one house, but I'd still make pay from each of the parents. I could make up to 50/hr on some jobs for only watching 5 kids. It was the best. :) Too bad the lady running the agency never saw that I had a life, and would book me for jobs without telling me first. I had to quit which sucked. I haven't made that good of money in so long!

I'd usually just get how ever much at the end of the night. Somewhere between $20-$40.

When I babysat, I used to get paid 5.00 an hour, when I was 14. I babysat for a rich woman before however and got paid 9.00$ an hour, I really loved that!

When I babysat, I got paid between 7-9 dollars an hour, depending how long they were gone and how many children I was watching. Babies, I got paid more for because they demand more of your attention. Honestly, I think anywhere from 6-8 is reasonable.

I agree with .xoxo Thats what I used to get paid for babysitting a night. Now for like a full time babysitting job, I paid a girl 100 a week to watch my son for like 40 hours a week.not too bad,I just didnt want to pay her the same as a day care.lol. She didn't mind. lol.He 'was' an easy kid to take care of.Now a days, if someone were to watch him, it would def. be more, he's a lil devil. lol

Yeah, exactly not like a daycare. But 20-40 sounds reasonable. I think. Right? hahaha

Jesus, when I used to babysit I got $4.50/hr, but was told not to ask for anything more than $3/hr. I feel ancient now.

When I was in middle school I made a dollar an hour per kid. So for one kid it was a dollar an hour and for four kids it was 4 dollars an hour.

Now I make 400 a week watching one child for 40 hours and my base price for babysitting is 10/hr for one child, plus an additional 2 dollars an hour per kid. If she only wants 5 bucks for the night, that's very sweet, but I would definitely give her at least 20 if you're going to be gone for more than just a couple hours.

I make 7.00 per hour for two - three kids all under 5.
Assuming your son will be sleeping by about 10, I'd think $20 would be fine.

My friend is a preschool teacher and a babysitter on the weekends. She says she charges between $20-50 for the day or depending how long she is watching the child. She watches one kid practially all weekend and gets $200. Not bad. I wish I had patience for children sometimes.

What .xoxo said. When I babysat, I would get $20-40 per night. If it was more than one, I'd still get around $30-40 per night.

My boss usually pays me $2/3 an hour to watch her two kids. Mainly because her daughter is ten, so I'm pretty much just watching her baby [six months old.]. And it's usually at night, so he goes to sleep a few hours after I get to her house.

I pay my babysitter $8/hr for two kids. At the same time, she's 25. When I had the neighbor girl (13) I paid her $5/hr. I think level of experience accounts for something.

I babysit 2 children during the day. I charge $100.00 a week for one that I only watch 4 days a week...and $150.00 for the one I watch all week.

Unless I have to provide diapers or something that the mother forgets to bring..then I charge for those items.
