I know there are a lot of moms on Bloop (and a lot of moms-to-be who also might be interested!) so I thought this might be a good place to ask... :)

For those of you who didn't do the cloth diaper thing, which brands of disposable diapers worked best for you? Huggies? Pampers? Luvs? Other brands?

I've been scouring the internet for opinions, and so far it seems like Pampers might narrowly be in the lead, though I've seen a lot of people say (generally speaking) that in their experience Huggies worked best for their baby boys and Pampers worked best for their baby girls.

Just wanted to know what y'all have found in your own personal experience. :)

PAMPERS! And, only swaddlers, then cruisers. Everything else, and I do mean EVERYTHING else leaked for us!

Huggies works for my son. He sleeps through the whole night, and sometimes with Pampers he would leak. He doesn't really leak with Huggies.

i tried pampers, huggies and luvs wheb my son was in diapers and by far huggies were the best. i used the regular huggies and then my fiance and i tried the huggies supreme diapers and those were better than the regular and thats all we would buy.

pampers swaddlers when they are newborn, huggies newborns leak SO SO SO bad. and, then once they're in a size 1 diaper i switched to huggies. they dont leak, and thats what costco sells, so i just get a huge box and it lasts me almost 3 months.

as for wipes, i use either huggies or the costco brand. mostly costco brand. they're thin and you have to use more than the name brand ones, but they're cheap and convenient.

I have 2 boys and I will ONLY use Pampers! For both of my boys Huggies have leaked and left that diaper gel crap all over them. And Luvs and the other brands are just not soft. Not to mention when Gage was a newborn he looked JUST LIKE the baby on the Swaddlers box :D lol

i use bumGenius cloth diapers and Luvs. My son broke out when I would put him in pampers or any other brand. I have never had any problem with Luvs. My mom used Luvs on me and my sister too.

I always preferred to buy Pampers, just because I knew they were reputable - but in essence, Pampers and Huggies both worked fine on my daughter.

But WIPES are a different story. Pampers wipes are very thin, where as Huggies wipes are much softer and thicker.

Haha!

Oooooo I'll buy them if they print her on the diaper! Then my kid can take a big poo on her face! ;)

we use cloth but its worth asking locally and see if any of the cheaper brands work as well, if i've used disposibles i've always gone for supermarkets own and they've worked great. go for ones with the stretchy band at the top though to help contain blowouts!

I would go with luvs. We did the whole pampers and huggies thing and it was messy. Luvs are cheap and dependable

i couldnt stand any of the name brand wipes. they were all cheaply made in my opinion or i had to use a ton of them to get the job done so i use walmart brand equate fragrance free wipes they are supposed to compare to huggies natural care. i stopped buying name brand wipes when my son was a newborn so i dont remember if i tried the natural care. i know i tried huggies and pampers wipes and hated them so i stick to the cheap generic brand cuz why waste my money finding name brands that work for me?

Now, we use the big box of wipes that you can get at Sam's club, which also works just fine - but huggies wipes I dont ever remember being cheaply made. Don't really know why the brand would actually make any difference in getting the job done - considering you can fold a wipe upwards of 4 times to continue using it.

My son was allergic to Huggies and Luvs diapers. Luvs also had nothing to them...not sure where the mess was supposed to go when there's nothing there to absorb it! lol He does best with the Pampers swaddlers and cruisers because they have the mesh lining which pulls wetness and poop away from his tender butt. But for wipes, we used either Huggies OR the Pampers alcohol free if he had a rash. I think that each mom-to-be should sign up on all the websites so that you can get samples, try the samples for the first day or two and figure out which brand works best for your situation. Otherwise, it may be a bit of trial and error and maybe a few wasted dollars along the way.

When they are brand new, Pampers swaddlers. Its the best for pulling that newborn breastfed poo away from the skin. When they are older babies, I like the Huggies Supreme or Pampers Cruisers. Both are pretty good diapers. THEN when they are 1+ we go to Luvs... which for us worked just as good as Pampers or Huggies.
As far as wipes, Huggies Natural Care is ALL we use.

Of course now we are all about cloth.. no more disposables for us. For wipes I use flannel cut into 4x4 squares. I put them in a wipe bucket and add a mixture of water, baby wash, and baby oil. Just enough to wet the wipes, you dont want standing water or it will go stale.

It isnt too bad actually. Right now my collection consists of 36 prefolds, 14 covers, 12 Pocket Diapers, 8 AIO diapers, and 40 Flannel Wipes. Gavin isnt much of a heavy wetter so he goes through roughly 8 prefolds & 2 covers a day.. and we end up washing diapers every 3-4 days or so. The pockets & AIO's are the "dad" diapers, only used when Micheal changes him or we're going out for a while. So he doesnt use those often. We have a large capacity washer thankfully so all of our diapers can wash together. Its not as much work as it seems to be honest. However, I just started a little over a month ago so I am sure laundry would need to be done more often with a newborn. Those newborn breastfed poo's are CONSTANT.... lol.

ive noticed most of the parents at my job bring in huggies..honestly, i've never seen problems with them, then again, we change the kids every 2 hours or in between if they went, so because they are so frequently changed that might be why ive never seen problems *shrugs*

ive heard pampers are good though!
