I can't believe that Piper is nearly a month old! I stepped on the scale with ther this morning (very scientific) and she weighs about 10 and a half pounds! meaning she has gained more than a quarter of her body weight since birth. Pretty sure I'm feeding her straight up cream at this point.
We went to my mom's on Thursday, and stayed the night. She was really stuffy/snuffly and I'm not sure if it was that, or being in a new place, but she was up fussing and nursing from 2-4:30 am. I was exhausted, but it was nice to have my mom sit up with me for company. Otherwise, she's been pretty good at night.
I have to call WestJet tomorrow and put Piper on our flight up north to see Josh's family. I have to check with them as to what I can use as identification if her birth certificate doesn't arrive in time (we were told 6-8 weeks when we applied, we're flying on week 7).
Piper has outgrown her first sleeper, and I think we are done with newborn diapers. The size 1's look so big on her, but I'm sure we'll be used to them shortly.
I feel like I'm ready for visitors now, so hopefully soon I can show off my little darling to people who have been nice enough to give us space and time to adjust to life with an infant. It's not that I don't appreciate the few visitors we've had, but I think that too many would have been overwhelming. Now I just have to work on being comfortable nursing in public so I can feel good about hosting or going out with friends more. I know that it will take practice, and I have to think a little more about the clothes that I wear, but I'll get there.

I'm totally impressed that you are already looking for ways to get comfortable nursing in public. It took me so long to get brave enough, and I nursed in my car or a separate room for a long time. Forget that nonsense, haha. The right outfit definitely makes it easier. And I made friends with another mama who'd just had her second, so she'd NIP with me.

She's precious. She weighs more than Thor! We went to the doctor Friday and he weighs 9lb14oz, so not much less than Piper.

I need to feel more comfortable about NIP too. I feel fine at home but infront of people I don't. I cover up at home if someone is here but if we are at Kevins moms or something I'll go on another room and lock the door. I feel like I'll never be comfortable NIP. I had to nurse in the car twice over the weekend. I spent the night at my best friends and nurses in her living room with her, her husband. And their two kids in the room (covered of course). It's difficult.

It sounds like things are going well though, that's fantastic!

If you get a paper from the hospital confirming her birth, you generally can use that in place of a birth certificate.

Yeah I have her certificate of live birth from the province that will work.

She's adorable!

I remember feeling strange about nursing in front of people. First, there was the modesty thing, but also, I was so awkward about it because I was learning to be a mom, too. Eventually, it just happened. It became a necessity a couple of times; I just HAD to feed him and had no choice. After those times turned out well, I was a little more comfortable doing it.

RYC: Our maternity leave here in the states is a joke. If I didn't have the leave to take the whole three months off I wouldn't have even taken this long off because we wouldn't have been able to afford it. Thankfully I had been saving up annual and sick leave.
