america is lazy.

05/04/2011

think about it

i saw a commercial for a new invention. its an electric soap pump that you dont have to touch. you just put your hand under it and the soap comes out. who has actually gone out and bought one of these?
if you have, may i ask...why?? think about this for a minute...
yes, you have dirty hands, so when you push the soap pump, those germs get on the pump. everytime you push it, you're getting germs on your hands. but... YOU ARE ABOUT TO WASH YOUR HANDS!!!
any time you touch that pump to put soap in your hands, its to wash your hands. you wash your hands to get rid of germs. so why spend the money that you dont have for an electric soap pump??
this just proves how lazy america has become. it makes me sick seeing these new things coming out promoting being lazy.
so, my question is... whats next, america?

That was my exact thought when I first saw it advertised. lol pointless.

Eh, I guess I'd get it for any business. I'm a germophobe, though. Who knows if someone has a disease or what they touched before they touched that pump. That's enough for me to buy my own, electric one, ha!

xoxo,

haha..my thoughts exactly. unless you have the obsessive urge to touch the soap bottle again when you are finished washing up, it is pointless. I think we are subtly targeting those with ocd anymore..

I have one...I'm such a lazy ass

You're right. We should just ban all innovation from here on out. Wouldn't want America to get more lazy.

Wouldn't that have ENORMOUS mess potential? I mean, what happens when you accidentally wave your had, knee, or other body part under the sensor when you don't need soap? Tons of excess soap. Mess. Waste. Ick.

We have one of those in our kitchen and the paper towels are near it so sometimes (not often) the soap will dispense onto the counter. But it only dispenses about a quarter-sized amount, so the mess isn't too big. Also, there's a switch in the back to turn the motion sensor off so you can use it as a regular soap dispenser, too.

I usually use the motion sensor after I've handled raw meat or eggs to help prevent cross contamination.

We have those in public toilets in some places in England. We don't have to flush or turn a tap on either; all automated. It's ace haha.

things like this have been out for awhile. i think they are neat

Obviously if people couldn't afford buying an electric soap pump they wouldn't. It's just a fad like everything else out there.

[.love.struck.Star|0 likes] [|reply]

we've had things like that for a long time in the UK, they almost always have them in public toilets and in all professional kitchens. When I've been in doctors surgeries and hospitals they always have them as well

[TransitStar|0 likes] [|reply]

They actually have those here...they put them in offices and stuff...and they just stand there. You put your hand under it. Except it's hand sanitizer, and not soap. I haven't seen any for soap at all.

I think this kind of thing would be nice. It's probably far more sanitary.

We have those at college in the ladies' rooms. I think it's a way to eliminate messiness? It won't dispense unless your hand is in the right place and doesn't drip onto the counter beneath it.

Almost all buinsesses have these now..my job does..Im pretty sure America isnt the only one that has these..

We have the automatic soap dispensers at my mom's work. She works at a doctors office and she also got to take one home. If you think about it, it's not being lazy at all. When you go to the washroom and go to get soap out you use your hand to push on it right. That spot never gets cleaned. Ew. So this takes away you having to use your dirty hands to touch the soap pump before they're washed. It has nothing to do with being lazy

Actually sounds pretty cool to me. But I am concerned about things like germs, silly as it may sound. Especially in my kitchen or any restroom. But in restrooms I definitely appreciate the motion sensor paper towel dispensers more.

[mixie|0 likes] [|reply]

You're silly. Uh whats next, you ask?? The automatic ass wiper??

[[accepting.change]Star|0 likes] [|reply]

weve had the detol ones for awhile here in oz. seems like they "needed" to invent a usless item to keep jobs

[spanna|0 likes] [|reply]

LOL!! I never thought about it b4! Glad ur okay btw!

First off, I'm assuming the tornado's didn't hit you and that you're alright??
Second, I agree with Toffee whatever about cross contamination after handeling raw me. I guess I'm somewhat OCD about washing my hands, especially working at Walmart lol .. And often when I use pump soap at home (maybe this is just me?) but there's a thin line of liquid soap that trails from my hand / the pump soap to the sink. Maybe this new non-touch pump eliminates that? We don't have one, but I do think they're neat.

[mae_mcawesome|0 likes] [|reply]

***RAW MEAT!!!! LMAO I guess I'd be worried about handeling raw ME too LOL

[mae_mcawesome|0 likes] [|reply]

We have them here in australia too. My thought was a little bit different though...follow along for a moment. SO you have dirty hands, you turn on the tap with you hands, put your hands under the running water, put your hand under the automatic soap machine, scrub your hands, put your hands back under the water and then turn the tap off. My point is - you touch the tap with dirty hands and then have to touch the dirty tap with clean hands therefore all the germs you just washed off are now back on your hands because of that tap! If you have one of those sensored tap system like some public restrooms have then thats fine. But if your "old school" like i know my house is - you actually have to turn the taps on!
