NoJoMo 12 - Doctor's Appointment

11/12/2020

Charlie's 2 month doctor's appointment is today, which means he gets his first round of shots. Which is a shame because he's probably going to have a pure, unadulterated meltdown today, after being in such a good mood and bundle of smiles today:

I may or may not update later to tell you how that whole thing went.

You know know im so angry because we literally do everything right. Always masked. Always wash hands. Wash down groceries. Go out only twice a month. He had to go get insulin from Denver and im sure that's where he got exposed. At the airport. Now he's isolated in our room and im with the kids alone because if Finn gets this he will die according to his specialists. Im wearing a mask in front of him and so are the older kids who can tolerate it. I hate this.

They're literally telling him that he will die if he catches COVID? That's super irresponsible for a medical provider, given the unpredictable nature of the virus. Even with the risk factors like obesity, he could still be anywhere from asymptomatic to flu symptoms. I'm not saying it's something to not take seriously, but I wouldn't put so much pressure on yourself that you won't be able to handle it, because even with all of these factors, there's still a low death rate. Please try to be a little bit more optimistic for his sake.

Hes got uncontrolled type 1 diabetes as well as some damage to his body from onset. Endocrinologists also tell us most deaths they see with T1D is from when they get sick with a cold, stomach bug, or the flu. Idk im not a doctor and they lead the country is diabetic research so im trusting them. Diabetics account for more than half of the deaths in our country and they are being really straight with me. They also told me they didn't know if he would survive his coma and he did. I have faith in his strength but im also gonna be doing everything I can to protect him
