Beepbeep, beepbeep, yeah!

03/07/2013

This has been the best week of my life!! I finally have a CAR! I can understand hearing a younger person say that, but as an almost 30 yr old, you would think I wouldn't get so excited. It seems normal in this area of the world to assume people my age have things like cars. Especially people who work hard and have children. I was riding my bicycle to the grocery store one day, with my trusty backpack to load my stuff in, and the people that worked there actually asked me if I was homeless! I said that if I was, I would probably not by mircowave foods or anything that needs refridgeration. DUH. It is really amazing how people will look down on you for the smallest things. I am just glad I really don't care what others think. I had to grocery shop without a car. Challenge accepted.
But now...I'M BACK, BABY!! Even though it has only been about 10 months without my car, my whole world has drastically changed. I can go where I want, when I want. I am still in shock. I really never had many friends in this town and no one could ever give me rides anywhere either, so after the first month or 2, I just stopped asking. I stayed in my house almost constantly except work. I hated going to the store because what is a 20 min shopping trip for most people, turned into an hour or more for me, trudging along the roadside with all my food in plastic bags and hurting my arthirtic hands. A nice lady that works with my husband gave us a bicycle, and that was such a luxury! It is so funny what people can take for granted! I am glad I live the life I have because I have lost my possessions more than I can count, but I discovered I really don't need any of it. I will still survive and then the universe will reward me with the feelings of security that others who worry about money or stuff constantly will never feel.
And no, even though I have a car now, I cannot use it irresponsibly. Gas is still almost 4 bucks a gallon.
