Another beautiful day of humidity, literally, I swam to work

Jk, but the weather's still really annoying - because it's so humid I'm going through clothes really quickly and have finally been pushed to use the hotel's laundry facility. I'm reserved about using hotel services because it all goes on the bill, i.e. the company will pay

I really don't want them to see the bill at the end and go: “Whaaa?? Nanniii!!!”. This means I'll be double angry if they lose my socks... <__<
Have finished inputting address! Huzzah! I created a complicated key to show why I couldn't add some addresses, but I don't understand what it's for – They want to create a database of clients (name, invoice address, contact, contact #), easy enough: but I've spent the last week searching job reference #s and getting the invoice addresses for jobs (not clients). Problem #1: Client addresses may have changed in that time, #2: Not all clients were on the list, neither were all job references, #3: A lot of clients have several branches, several international offices and agents sorting payment for them, #4: Several job references were for a completely different company *head-desk*
Oh well, Charles is dealing with it now (Charles, not Charlie, don't ask why, I have no idea) – He's going to find a way to enter it in to the database (yes, that database, the one that's not been created yet), but looking at the job sheets they want the database to fill in automatically, they need to get the company names down first and sort through the millions of sub-branches some of them have. Honestly it's incredible how much one company can own

There's also the issue that joint-ventures are formatted “Client A/Client B”, database-ness would be so much easier if they just had several columns for clients!! Then they could mix and match like a pre-teen in Claires. -__- Godammit my formatting will prevail! *thunder*
Ranting aside: Grace (One of the office girls) got a shiny new phone yesterday, tres like a Blackberry but thinner and nicer~ Anyway, she said she bought it for 72元 (£7.20) :O Kelly said the shop (Gome, they called it) was near her house, she lives a few minutes away from me – so I internet-ed the shop, but could only find a Guomei 国美 in Nankai District 南开区. I didn't know it was far away though, so I got a taxi there and the driver kept asking me: why are you going there? Are you meeting someone? Of course, thinking he was trying to screw me over I told him I was meeting my friend... When we got there, the shop was completely shut down, looked like it had been shut for a few months *fail* Nuuuuuu!! BUT! Luckily, ~100 meters further down from it, was 孙宁电器, in other words a different electronics shop – It sucked, but I did some price hunting to figure out how much a camera's going to cost me

There were a load of tags next to mobiles and cameras spouting crazy prices, like 100元 (£10) for a phone! *excitement* But these must be pay-monthly, because all items had a faded price tag under them, saying something like 780元 (£78). The camera I liked was something like £28 a month, but ~£300 straight out

Oh well, I'm going to try reach Guomei this week and see if they do better deals, if not... I can always try one of the road-side traders with watches strung up in his coat-lining ^^
Also just realised it's Bagel's birthday in a week

So! Shopping trip tonight as well! There's a Tesco's right opposite the office *nodnod* I'm sure there'll be something fun in there XXD *flees
(Half an hour later): I return! Basically didn't have time to post before Sabrina dragged me off for lunch - very nice Korean cafe, but the rest of the office went to Mixian米线 again, tres boring

Anyway! I finally found out how these guys survive without facebook and youtube - basically they have Chinese Facebook (http://www.renren.com/SysHome.do) and Chinese Youtube (Youku.com) Yes! The dreaded Youku is their youtube and I still can't get it to load on my freakin computer. In effect the government don't like how open those sites are and created national versions that they can monitor, whilst simultaneously providing everyone with the procrastination tools they need and deserve ^^ I might try renren one day, I mean, the layout and design schemes are basically facebook ^^
