something special.

01/05/2009

I don't start work until 2pm, so I have a few hours this morning just to do nothing - which is always nice, I guess. I'm working late until 11pm to get the shop back to normal after Christmas and New Year trade. We're hoping that it won't be as busy now that people have gone back to work after their Christmas breaks and the children go back to school. It'll be nice to have some sort of sense of normality back in the shop, it's always a mess when it's converted to sale product, tonight I think we're pushing the sale back and bringing the full price stock forward for the new season. I think that's what we're doing, haven't got a clue really! I work on the shoe department, so I'll be in charge of moving everything up there - can't wait to make it look good again, sale is ugly!

We took down our Christmas tree yesterday, there's a huge space in the living room next to the TV that needs filling. We need a new cabinet for our TV so we don't have to have the Wii and the Playstation on the carpet in front of the TV. lol. James also quite fancies the idea of getting a plant to fill the space the Christmas tree has left, I suggested a tall vase with some decorative twigs.... he wasn't impressed by that idea. lol.

A diet starts today. We spent £90 at the supermarket yesterday buying chicken, turkey, fish and vegetables. I've also had the stirrings of a cold over the last few days so I've been taking my multivitamins.

There's a bit of snow blizzard going on outside at the moment. I hope my car isn't too iced up, I hate having to clear it before I go anywhere.

holiday.

I was doing a lot of research and reading about things to do on our Florida holiday, not that we'll be stuck for activities with all the parks and shopping! I wanted to fit in some extra special treats so I thought about a hot air balloon ride early one morning - turns out you can't fly over Disney because of air space restrictions, and where you go depends on the weather and wind direction anyways. It costs about $165 each, which ends up being about the same price as a balloon ride in our local area - I'd much rather fly over Florida than Norfolk..... lol. I definitely think that it's something I want to work into our itinerary.

At Disney World they also do backstage tours and I'm really interested in one called 'Keys To The Kingdom' which lasts about 5 hours walking around The Magic Kingdom park. It costs $60 and includes park entry for the day, so we wouldn't use up one of our pre-paid park days. The tour does reveal a lot of secrets that might ruin 'The Magic' but I'd love it and who knows if we'd ever be able to go back!

One more thing I'm looking forward to doing is the 'Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party' - they start mid-September but the official dates won't be released until May. Last years party cost about $50 per person. When I went to Disney at Christmas time with my family we went to 'Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party', there are special shows and parades and character meets....it's Magical! The Halloween party is one of those wait and see options as we don't know actual party dates or costs. I really want to dress up as a pirate...... lol.

There's also a Food and Wine festival at the EPCOT park which starts in late September. lots to see and lots to do! ♥

Sales are definitely ugly! Bet you can't wait to get your department all nice and new again
LOL @ James' reaction to the decorative twigs (they sound lovely btw!!!)
I'm so jealous you're going to Florida. I've never been to Disney at all! I'd do the keys of the kingdom thing, that sounds awesome!

I always think shops are really ugly at sales time too...it puts me off shopping!
Do you know about the Universal halloween nights too? They're actually supposed to be very scary, and I think they run for a few nights...or are you just doing Disney? xx

the balloon ride sounds an amazing idea but not being able to fly over disney seems a bit silly! lol. x
