The past few days

02/14/2009

"You must do the thing you think you can not do." - Eleanor Roosevelt

Normally, there's not too much that goes on in my boring lil' life. The past few days have been different and painful.

About a month ago now, I guess, I did something to my back. I have no idea what. Since then, my sciatic nerve has just been killing me. This particular nerve runs down the middle of your butt cheek and down your leg to your ankle, if not farther. It's been very painful to stand for more than 5-10 minutes at a time. I've taken more Alleve and Tylenol than I like to think about and have finished off what prescription pain pills my husband had left after his two surgeries last summer. I've also finished off the Rx Morphine my MIL gave me. I'd been hanging in there pretty well. I only had a couple of Vicodin left so I'd been saving those for the really bad days which were becoming fewer and more far between.

Yesterday, the damn dog just about killed me. We don't have a fenced back yard so we have a lead staked into the ground for her. It was a pretty day yesterday so I put her outside. Now, our neighborhood is older and has a lot of unfenced yards. However, there are trees planted to serve as the boundary between your yard and the yard behind you. The neighbors closest to where we have the dog staked have put in a chain link fence as well as the house behind us/them. There's the tree line, though, so the dog can run, on her lead, between the two fences. What this all comes down to is that the dog got the lead wrapped around part of the chain link fence where it meets the ground. Not being a skinny person, I couldn't get around the trees to get it free so I just put her back on her leash to take her back inside. I had the leash in my right hand. She ran behind me and to my left. The leash went as far as it could and then YANK!! Omg, did it hurt!

I spent the rest of the night trying to get comfortable but never could. I was in tears most of the night. I couldn't sit or stand comfortably. The muscles that surround my tailbone hurt! Do you know how funky that feels? I can actually feel the muscles that cup my tailbone!

Okay, that's all I'm going to type for now. I have a lot more to say but I'm getting uncomfortable again and I have to move around some. Later.

Oh jeez, like you really needed that on top of what already hurts!! I'm sorry you're having such problems with your back. I can't imagine how painful that is, as I watch my mother suffer with it everyday.
