Intellectual Survey? Ha!

08/04/2009

begin.

The site called this a "Philosophical Survey".
Hahahaha.

Do humans carry souls?
Yes.

What about animals?
No.

Was September 11th a government conspiracy?
Hahahaha, no.

Do you believe a plane actually hit the pentagon?
*sigh* Yes...

Are the methods the U.S. is using to handle illegal immigration satisfactory?
No. For the most part, border control is a joke. Nothing is being done to encourage legal immigration.

Do you think that John F. Kennedy's assassination was a government conspiracy?
Gah, no.

Do you believe that the moon landing in 1969 actually happened?
JESUS! YES. What is up with the conspiracy theories?

Do you believe in ghosts?
No.

Can subjection to violence in media lead to violence in the real world?
Only in those that are mentally unstable. Hopefully, that would be discovered earlier on. (That only applies to older people. Young children, of course, are too impressionable to be subjected to violence.)

Did O.J. Simpson murder his wife?
Yeah. He wrote a book, you should check it out.

Do you believe going to war in Iraq was the right thing to do?
I just don't even really know. Currently, my life is screwy enough that I can't be bothered to research anything unbiased (or, at the very least, less biased than what I currently hear).

Can we as people ever co-exist with each other peacefully?
Yeah. It'll just take some time, I'm sure.

Do you believe the course of our lives are pre-determined by unseen/unknown forces?
Nope.

Has democracy made the world a better place?
Yes, but there is probably a better governmental system waiting to be thought up. Sadly, it won't be implemented by democracies because, despite what democracy means, people don't really have enough power to change stuff unless they are very united. More than just a mere majority would be required.

Was the governments reaction to Hurricane Katrina acceptable?
See my answer for the Iraq question.

Are celebrities punished justly for crimes they commit?
Yes, actually. People just actually care about those sentences. For the most part, they get the same punishments anyone else would receive.

Can we ever win the war on terror?
See my answer for the Iraq question.

Are professional athletes over-compensated for their abilities?
Yep. A teacher makes much too little compared to someone whose job is to play baseball.

Did the fabled people of Atlantis ever exist?
No.

Are there other intelligent beings in the universe?
Likely, yes.

Should the 1st Amendment protect all forms of expression, including those that may be offensive or harmful to others?
I'm no Supreme Court Justice, but if any expression harms another, it isn't supported by the Constitution; likewise, if it causes significant distress or disrupts others (yelling "FIRE!" in a dark theater when there isn't one), the 1st Amendment doesn't (and shouldn't!) cover it. So, basically, the current interpretation is correct.

Is it better for one innocent man to be sent to death or 5 murderers to be pardoned?
Depends. If the murderers are people like those that only killed for revenge or something similar, then it is better for them to be pardoned (but I'm not saying they aren't bad people). However, if they are serial killers, then the innocent man should be sent to death (even though that is terrible).

ESSAY QUESTIONS

In the case of homosexuality, do you believe it's sin?
Though I don't believe in any divine law, no, I don't think it is a sin. (I'm focusing on Christian sin since I know that best.) A God that is Love cannot hate or consider it a sin to be gay if that is how He made someone.

Can the human race ever help the planet Earth to recover from the ecological damage it has suffered?
Well, yes, in this sense that it could get better over time. The human race wouldn't have to actively help, but instead actively change its ways and not be harmful. The problems it caused could be healed with time.

Will race/ethnicity always be an issue amongst differing peoples?
Not in the far-off future.

Are you for or against abortion?
I am for abortion being an option. The wording of that question is tricky to answer with one word.

Are you for or against capital punishment (i.e. the death penalty)? Why?
For. Because some people deserve to die for their terrible actions. Obviously, the punishment shouldn't be thrown out willy-nilly, but a serial killer deserves to die most of the time.

FINAL QUESTION (3-part)

part 1- Do you practice any form of religion? Why?
No. I don't see any logical or emotional reason for me to do so.

part 2- Do you believe that the writings in the bible can still apply to today's world?
Morally, yes. Literally, no.

part 3- Has religion made the world a better or worse place?
Though my gut reaction would say worse because of wars and hatred towards certain groups, I am going to say better for one main reason: happiness. It does make a lot of people happy. My mom admitted to me this: "You need the intellectual side. That's why you don't like religion and I do. I don't need that. I feel what believing God has done to me emotionally, and I see what it has done for me physically..." My mom is happier because of religion. Sadly, she is pretty much only happy about it when I'm there too. That sucks for me, but I do it for her.

end.

That was totally written by a closet conspiracy theorist. lawl No, no, it's a philosophical survey, really! No one will ever be able to detect my subtle subliminal messages... >>

Wait, essay questions? Hah, talk about delusions of grandeur.

I think I must do this for my own amusement.
