I love The Strokes

05/03/2010

begin.

I think I have a natural aversion to updating something like this.

Sorry.

haha, anyway, so I've recently been more and more open to people about my sexuality. I honestly answered a formspring question with a long rant. It feels good. I'm sure my parents will find out through the grapevine, but I've stopped caring.

Food Lion is exactly as one would expect. I want to work somewhere else or at least have a position change to cashier. I'm a people person, in general, but I'm slightly afraid to interact with my position because it's such a...demeaning position. It's like a slave saying "Have a nice day!" with a big smile to the slave-driver. No one wants to hear the lower people talk.

And cashiers that never bagged forget about things like how the items GET BAGGED. When they scan an item they shouldn't just toss it down the line willy-nilly. Eggs, bread, chips, and other crushables need to be separated. God.

There is a possible position open during the summer at Lunar Golf. Basically the place is just a putt-putt thing located inside our mall that plays with black-lights and neon-colored surroundings. Not exactly the most pumpin' place to be for teens, but definitely a cool little thing for kids to do. If I got the job there I would just charge for rounds and watch them to make sure they didn't fuck shit up. Probably minimum wage, but the hours would be MUCH more flexible than the current set-up at Food Lion (you'd think a place like that would run smoother...), and the job would END in August and start BACK UP the next summer. That would ROCK because I am doing Governor's School next year (college classes to earn my Associates in high school and/or knock out the bothersome freshman classes). At Food Lion I have to quit and then re-apply, I think. (Unless Heather wouldn't mind letting me take a school-year-long leave, but I don't think that would happen.)

I just HATE this physical labor. I understand the appreciation I need to have for this sort of work, and I know it gets MUCH harder. But 1) I'm a young kid doing fairly labor-intensive work and 2) I'm not one to tolerate hard work well. I'm not a bitch at work, but seriously. I CAN'T close the store EVERY FUCKING SCHOOL NIGHT! That is TOO MUCH. I'm already way behind on history and I have an AP exam this Friday.

Oh God. Friday. They want to fucking come in at FOUR PM. What the hell?!?! The exam starts at noon and it is timed to be three hours long. After paperwork that means it will end around 3:30-3:45. I can't get there RIGHT after school. Jesus fucking Christ.

Happier news. Hmm... can't think of much. Another boy-crush, big surprise there. Like Denny, this one is mentally attractive too. Eric's the name. I'm sure you'll hear me whining more soon enough. (If you're wondering how I spotted him, Ms. Wright just changed our seating chart in Spanish and now he's right beside me.)

end.

lithium layouts.

ugh i hate work + school. i decided to just change my availability so that i only work weekends. i decided my mental health was more important than money. you'd think a grocery store would hire employ students to know that they can't just run a teen ragged like that?

I have to say that as a cashier, I'm horrible at bagging. Never really got "trained" in it, so to speak. So I'm probably one of the annoying cashiers that makes it harder for the baggers. Sorry.

That golf job sounds like it would be slightly more fun than a bagging job, so good luck with it!
It's also great that you're more open with your sexuality!

Also, yeah, I'm surprised that they'd make you close every weeknight! That's ridiculous, especially when you're in school!
