But he's in hospital and he almost died earlier this month. He also just had most of his left leg amputated. He's in stage 4 renal failure, and he has only 1 kidney.
I couldn't care less about the Ranger. There's no telling how long he'll last in this life. I'm doing all right in my life. He's not doing all right in his.
Wow. The good news is that depending on how bad it is, he can be on dialysis the rest of his life and live for a while, especially if the one kidney he has left still works at all. That's a lot to have to go through though. I hope he's ok.

My ex is diabetic, he has a heart condition, he has fibromyalgia and/or arthritis, he's going blind and he's living on disability. Oh, and he was only born with 1 kidney; it's all he's EVER had.
All this, and he's only 45 years old. He's too young to go through all this.
My current man has met my ex and generally actually likes him as a person but he isn't happy that Ex hasn't paid me for the truck. So since I'd like to visit Ex in the rehab center, Current is a little grumbly about it.
But only a little. Current knows that I, given that I am a believer, believe that when Christ said "inasmuch as ye have done it to the least of these, ye have done it unto me" (about "I was sick and you visited me" etc) this is exactly what he was talking about.
