Upcoming feature will make posting photographs easier

05/20/2010

Hello Bloopers,

I am currently working on a feature in the entry editor that will make posting photographs much easier.

Attach Photographs

When you write an entry, an 'Attach Photographs' link will appear beneath the editor box. This will show a section where you can select a file to upload, when you select the file it will automatically submit... once the file has uploaded, the upload form will appear again and the entry editor will show another section which includes all the photographs you have attached to the entry.

If anyone has any input to give, feel free!

Steve.

just a little question, its dealing with the process. say i was writing an entry, and I decide I want to use the tool while I'm writing, and from what I'm understanding, when you select the picture file, you don't have to click on an upload button/link, it automatically uploads it, right?

Well will it also automatically backup the entry you're writing, cuz i'd think that when it's done uploading, it's going to refresh the entry, and erase whatever hasn't been backed up.

Actually it won't refresh the entry. The form is hidden inside an IFRAME, and is independent of the entry editor's HTML. When uploaded, the IFRAME page will initiate a JavaScript command that reloads a particular part of the entry editor. So it shouldn't cause any data loss.

Will there be a way to position it? i.e. I want this picture before that paragraph and that picture after and centred etc etc. Next question, any resizing tools? or will that have to be done manually? keep up the good work, Si.

This is awesome!! How would it work - would the user be able to incorporate the images into their entry stream, or would they all occur at the beginning or end or what? I curious. =D

They would appear at the end of the entry. Although I think we could also enable some bloop code, <bd:img num="1"> for example. Bloop would replace the code with a normal IMG code and would replace num="1" with src="url".

That's pretty cool. =) Maybe for those less HTML-savvy, you could have a button that automatically inserts that code where their cursor is. If that makes sense? xD
