Wake Up *poem

08/08/2009

Wake Up
8-8-09
Jonathan

Wake up
You are on your own
Your mama ain’t making your bed
And your cowardly father is somewhere sitting on a thrown

Wake up
You got bills to pay
I don’t care how you do it
You do it your own way

You’re not high and mighty
You are not some fucking saint
Swallow your pride
No one is helping you out of this shit, at least I ain’t

Stop partying around
And stop mooching off of women
Grow a pair of balls
Then maybe you too will be a man amongst men

Ryc - I think I'm confused. What is your philosophy on love then? If it doesn't work out, and later in life you still think about the person at times, then it means that you never truly loved them? I'm sorry but I just don't understand that fully.

And I know that you truly love baseball, but baseball doesn't love you back. I was speaking more on a person-to-person kind of love.

I mean...I love hamburgers but I don't think that Burger King gives a damn about me. If they did, then they probably would be serving more healthy food to their customers instead of the flame-broiled heart attacks in a bag.

ryc - Please forgive me for being so confused. I understand what you mean about different feelings for people, as in a crush, or lust, or love, or being in-love. I also understand being in love with the idea of love, and I understand being in love with the idea of a person, but not actually being in love with that actual person.

I am still confused as to why you made the comment that because I thought of those people from my past that it meant I never truly loved any of them. What made you say that is what I was asking you. How do you determine what love is and if you love someone or not?

I am sorry that you think that you loved a girl for so many years until she married someone else. Are you sure that you loved her, or did you love the idea of her? I mean, were you two actually in a relationship? And were you in love with her truly and fully - or did you just love her as a person?

There are many different types of love.

I know that you can love baseball. I love many things which are not people or animals - or beings with "souls" I mean. I love many sports, and I love many movies, but I don't think that they love me back.

Anyway I'm just trying to grasp what you're talking about, and understand your meaning of things. I am even more confused now than I was after your first note. lol
