Lady behind the register

Jonathan
You are the woman of my dreams
The cherry on my icecream
The one I fantasize about every night
You are so beautiful, I could never reach your hight
You would break hearts every day in school
You were smart, beautiful and pretty damn cool
Every boy wanted you
You knew it too
You turn down every boy
Whispers went around, something about you and some plastic toy
A good Cathlic girl saving herself? Never crossed our minds
You kept us all in a bind
Senior year came
It was all the same
You are the valedictorian
Prom day came, you had us guessing again
Who would you take?
All the boy’s ached
When you walked into the hall
All heads turns to see a guy who was tall
One who was foren to our eyes
All of our hearts died
We all went off in our own ways
I have not seen you since graduation day
I have dated some
And some were just for fun
But you were still in the back of my mind
You were defanately one of a kind
Time has passed, I have grown up
I got a job that pays the bills and my own place with a young pup.
I went shopping with my young niece one day
My brother asked if I could watch her, there was nothing I could say
She picked out a new Barbi doll
Barbi was in a bikini, she’s suppose to be playing volleyball
We go up to the counter and I do a double take
The casheer looks like a mature version of you, my heart begins to ache
You whisper my name, I’m in shock
I look at your hand to see no rock
We make some small talk
My mind racing and my fingers walked
I wrote down my number and email address
Contacting me would only be a guess
If you want to grab coffee someday, let me know
Then my niece and I had to go
A few days passed and not a ring
I pretended it was nothing
I was lounging around on a Saturday watching baseball
The phone rang, I took the call
In a shaky tone I hear someone say my name
I turned down the volume on the game
I confirm that it is me
You asked if I would like to go for coffee
You get off from work at three
A smile embraces my face
I suggest the donut shop near Angel’s place
I walk in about quarter past the hour
I spot you, you are beautiful like a flower
I walk over and ask, anyone sitting here?
You smile up at me and say, yes, you are sitting there
I take my seat
Asking what she wants, it’s my treat
A small coffee with two sugars, thank you, she says in a soft voice
A tea and a dainush is my choice
Staring into her beautiful eyes as she spoke
Feelings from yesteryear awoke
She went off to college and fell in love
Moving away a blind dove
Didn’t listen to any of her family or friends
I felt like I was being controlled, I had to tell him it was the end
So with no college and no job
I went home and just sobbed
I eventually got a job and I’m back in school
I’m trying to turn my life back around, I know I was a fool
As for me, I say
I work in a garage nearly every day
A macanic by trade
I have a young pup name Ray
We chatted about my dog and other things we like to do
It got pretty late, I had to work too
We left the shop and I walked her to her car
I told her that I don’t live far
We talked on the phone and went on a real date
She was smiling and laughing, it was great
It was far from the sad lady I saw at the store
She is everything I ever wanted and more
