Another date? yes, and another

08/06/2012

Hi peeps, what’s up?
I want to first thank everyone who left a note on the last entry. If you have not read it, I think you’d want to. It was a poem I wrote for a dear friend.

So tonight I went on another date with Ruth. It was nice. A little less awkward with the conversation but still awkward.

We went to TGI Fridays. It was nice but honestly, I couldn’t tell you much of what we talked about.

When I first got in the car, the first thing she said was “how was your weekend.” I always thought the first thing you say is “hi, how are you?” but I told her about my weekend.

We got to the restaurant and were seated right away. The waitress brought me a Braille menu. So I read it a bit. I was telling Ruth about when I started learning about then I talked about how I learned assistive technology including a computer that talks.

We were going to get adult drinks. So she was reading me the drinks. She knew I like vodka so she was looking for the vodka drinks. She read one that sounded pretty interesting and I ended up getting it. It was vodka, greatfruit juice, freshly squeezed lime and redbull. She got a margarita wine.

Hmm what did we talk about? I was telling her about my best friend and how he has tattoos. Which led into a convo about other people I knew that had them. Which led into talking about college friends. Then I went into a story about my twin bro having this group of friends who all met at U-Mia who are now all scattered but they are still very close and once a year they have a reunion at one of the people’s places. She had told me how she was in a sorority. Which shocked me. She told me how she was the president of it for a year at her college and how she was going to shut it down because there wasn’t many people in it. She got some hate mail from past members. I told her how my twin was also in a fraturity and how he’s very close with them and how it’s one that have places all over the world.

Hmmm At some point, I asked her if she knew what fantasy football was. She said she does, her brother does itt. So I went into how the last few days I’ve been prepping for the draft and how I am in 3 leagues and when I go to Miami, I’m going to be drafting for someone who cant make the draft down there. I got into more details about one of the leagues I’m in with a bunch of people from FL that when my twin lived in the TB area for 3 years, his now life, worked at a college and someone in her office who became good friends with her and Justin and Justin was invited to their fantasy football league and the year after, there was an opened slot and Justin asked if I’d like to join… She was asking me questions about it so I guess that was good.

(yes we ordered the drinks and later the food, I got an apatizer combo she got some chicken dish)

The drink was a HUGE glass… but I went to stir it a bit, it was all ice lol. They also brought the other half of can of redbull. They only put in half. I sipped the drink and it was defanately interesting. I didn’t taste the vodka but I knew it was in there. She was reading the label on the redbull drink. Interesting. 

When my dish came, she did tell me that there was a few sauces on my dish and told me what she thought they were. So that was good.

She was telling me about a wedding she is going to next weekend and about how she got her dress in today and it didn’t fit so she was crying to her mother about how she cant go. Her mom said that she’s going even if she has to pick her up and drive her. . I told her a bit about how I was invited to a wedding in Ohio that I wish I could have gone to. I love weddings. Well, the selebration part is a little more fun lol. I love getting up and dancing and just partying.

At some point, probably after the fantasy football convo, that her father asked if she wanted to go to the New England Patriots pre season game this Thursday but she said that she couldn’t, she was working Friday. She mention how he also has tickets for August 20th. She’s not working that week and “would you like to go?” I said (just as I did with the baseball game, dumb-foundish) “yaaaahhh?” She said ok, and that she would ask her father. She said the tickets are in the no drinking (alcohol) section. I said no problem, I wont drink. She said how the seats are pretty good plus you don’t have to worry about having to stand and sit because people are not constantly going for beers. So she would let me know about that.

Near the end, I asked if the bill had come yet? She said that she took care of it. She gave the waitress her credit card. I thanked her.

It was raining when we had left the resteraunt, so I didn’t say as much, she had to consentrate. But I did get a hug. (which I asked for) and that was that…

An hour after I got home I got the following email.

Just wanted to say I had another great night with you!
I spoke to my dad and we have the tickets for the 20th!

I think it's taking her some time to warm up. And she may be just now getting more comfortable. Some relationships move slower than others. Hope it gets better.
