4th, a b day, 5th game for me, NO HITTER!

07/08/2009

I wasnt going to write about my 4th of July, but, I got some time before I got to go to work.
(I finished writing this a few days later)
**if you actually read this entire entry, you prob have too much time on your hands.. or are a really cool friend. or both**
^ its 3am ish, sorry about not spell checking etc, I am wanting to post this tonight so I can focus on the poem^

Every year since I was 6, my parents well, what started with renting a hotel room for a few days, for many years, the last 7 or 8 years we've been renting a beach house in a city called Gloucester. Gloucester is famous for their lobsters but the next town over got really famous thanks to a movie that some people mayhave seen or there was a book, "the perfect storm" Which was based off a huracaine we had in the early 90's that caught us off guard.

The beach house is on a dead end street that ends... at the beach. We rent a little house that is 3 houses from the beach. We are also across from an ice cream shop. The house is very small even if my descriptions may make it sound big. It is a split level house. You walk down stairs and there is two bedrooms on your right and on the left is another bedroom and the bathroom. In the bathroom is also where the washer-drier is. There is also a little storage closet under the stairs that goes up stairs. And so the tour continues going up the stairs and to the second floor. The second floor is completely opened. In the front right is the kitchen. In the back right is where we eat. There is a table and chairs. In the center back (when you walk up the stairs) there is a table used to throw bags and other stuff on. Than the front and left has a couch and a tv. The back left has a pullout couch, a coffy table and a few chairs. There is also a fireplace along the back wall in the left section. Then on either side of the house there are sliding doors that septs out to porches. The one of the left has table and chairs and a bench where the right porch has some chairs but has a BBQ grill.

I went up there Thursday night with my best friend John, his wife Kat and their son Holden. It was pretty uneventful as it was raining and it was just us and my parents the first night. Well my sister came eventually from her football practice but that wasnt till midnight. Kat has a friend from college who lives there so we went out for dinner with her friend Lisa, her husband Wes and their 11 month year old Franky. (holden is 9 month old) John hates going out with them because they are hmm as Holden Caulfield would say, the are "fake" people. Her daddy paid for everything including the down payment for a house and when they had their son, they didnt pay the morgage so the father took the house away from them and her brother who is getting married this year, who is more responsible, will get that house and in the mean time, Kat's friends are living with her parents. But they always bragged about having stuff and now since they dont have any house or what ever to brag about (that her father bought anyways) they brag about their son. So we went out with them for dinner. We than went back to their house after. They talked for a bit while the babies' were playing and the mothers were talking about the babies. Eventually John and Wes wanted to smoke a cigar so we went to their roof that had a deck on it. I am afrade of hights, so getting me up there, going up a narrow spyrow staircase that was made of some type of meddle and plus it was wet and slippery do to the rain that had fell that day. I was holding on for my life taking step by step. Wes mostly talked and talked about himself and how great he is and how he is going to join the army and after 2 years he'll be a police officer for 20 years than move down to fl and be a sherriff till he dies. So he has everything planned out. I doubt he'll even make it past bootcamp. He's such a woose. After their cigars and hearing Wes talk about himself, his career, his life, (very little about a family) we went back in the house, joined the ladies and after a few more minutes, we went back to the beach house. Getting back about 11;30.

Friday, My sister's friends joined us. Amanda, Cory and Angela. (my sis name is amanda too, so when I reference my sister, I will just say my sister) My twin and his wife came up too.
John and I had Chinese food for lunch friday while the rest of the crew had subs. John and I also went to a joke store where he bought some type of a cap gun thing. Eventually it was time for the Gloucester Parade. So we all headed over in 4 cars. It was a typicle parade. Fire engines, police cars and modercycles, floats with random things and random people, marching bands and cheerleaders. We went to a pizza place after and met up with others. There ended up being about 25 of us. I was given RedSox updates every so often via someone's phone. Got to see people we only see once a year. After dinner we went back to the house and just hung out. There is usually a firework show but they canceled it do to bad weather. I was out on the portch listening to baseball and my best was listening to a comidy cd he had. I pretended to listen to both, but didnt think the guy was funny.
The 4th of July!
My older bro came up, Corey’s husband Anthony came up and another of my sis’s friend, Jessica, came up, all stayed over that night. Lindsay’s parents came over for a few hours till the parade was over and my uncle Joe came up for the day. .

When I woke up the women’s tennis final was on. The Williams’ sisters were playing. After that, we change it to the hotdog eating contest and after that We went down to the beach for a little bit, through around a football. I went back and we watched the redsox game while having a bbq.
(that covers about 9AM till 4pm)
My father is the emergency management director for a city next to Boston. So we got to ride on his command post during the parade. The parade ends at the water front where at such time that it is dark out completely, they have a bonfire. The stack of wood is about 30 ft high and 50 ft wide by 20 ft back.My best friend and I always stand in the front row till either the firemen tell us to back up to a point that I can not see or feel the heat or till we just get bored. It was great this year.(the fire is so bright and the first is so big that if I focus my eye long enough, I can see the orange of the fire. I love that. It Is the only second of the year I can see a color. After the entire block of wood is aflamed, we head back to the trust and we go to our friend’s house where they have a bbq. We eat, talk, and then I went back with John, Kat and Holden about midnight. Others straggled in between 1am and my mom came in about 3.
Now, remember how small this house is? Some how we jammed 16 people in there to sleep. (that crazy and whild woman)
5TH of July!
Woke up and got ready to go home. Later that day John’s mother was having a birthday dinner for him at her house. The Men’s tennis was on before I left the beach house. John dropped me off at my house and would pick me up on the way to his mother’s later that day. I unpacked, hada snack, and realized the tennis match was still on, was flipping between the redsox game and the tennis match. Eventually I just watched the last few points that took for ever. My best eventually came and we went to his mother’s for dinner. Kat’s parents and Kat’s sister was there along with John’s mother and her husband. (not John’s father)His mom made pasta and chicken palm. I just had the pasta and meatballs and salad. And there was fruit I had mine and John’s share since he doesn’t like fruit or veggies. Kat showed video from her phone on the tv of the baby from the last two month. It was about 30 mins or so before dinner. It was also Kat’s father’s party since his b day is the 4th and John’s is the 6th. John wants an Apple I phone, so everyone gave him gift cards to the apple store. Kat and John’s mom got him other things too but I am sure he will have his phone by the end of the month. They had the redsox game on when I got there and that was on for most of the meal. The redsox ended up winning that game vs seattle. After cake and presents, we said our goodbyes and John dropped me off at my house. I said if he wanted to go out for his b day, let me know.
6th july
We ended up going out for Chinese food at his fav place. It was just John, Kat, Holden and myself. I picked up half the check. I am nice like that. Well.John had a gift card for 30, and I told him I would pick up the rest. Kat was a bit mean to me because I could not buy her an ice cream. I only had 11 bucks till… I didn’t know when. She is obsessed with icecream. Its funny.
9th of July (I guess I will keep writing)
My little cousin Jailen went to a two day redsox camp where they teach the kids how to hit, bunt,, throw (properly both long distance and short) running the bases and steeling bases, and fielding. He is already a pretty good player for 10 years old but hopefully he learned something from this camp. To go alone with the price of the camp, they got lunch both days, a t-shirt, hat and tickets to that night’s game and they went on the field and was introduced as a group. His mother and grand mother (my cousin and aunt) picked me up and drove me to the field where the camp was taking place. The kids were playing games at this point. They had got talking with another family and sat with them for the rest of the day. They were very nice. After the camp was over and they gave out a few awards, we headed to the train station where my aunt would drop us off and my cousin, my little cousin and I would go to the game. The redsox were playing the KC royals. We met back up with the fam we sat with before. Had a quick snack, the kids had a dinner, before they went onto the field and we went up to our seats. Well, the mothers went down close to take pics when the kids came out and they came back up when the game started. My cousin got me dinner (I’d gave her money) and we watch the game. The redsox were winning but the bull pen lost it for us. Our power hitter, David Ortiz hit his 300th home run of his career so even though we lost it was still memorable.

10th of July
The redsox won tonight. The Yankees lost.
But the reason I am writing about this day was because I got to listen to history being made. I listened to the 7th inning on of the SF Giants and SD Padres game.
oh my god. I love baseball

Jonathan sanchez pitched a no hitter for sf vs sd tonight. If not for an error for the 3b, could have been a perfect game. This kid was demoted to the pen until randy johnson got hurt sunday and they needed someone to fill in. This kid's father never saw him pitch in the majors, and he's been around a couple of years (he's 26) so his father flies in last night and his boy pitches a game for the record book. He is only the 17th pitcher in giants 127 years history, to pitch a no hitter. Even I had chills running down my back, energy flowing freely in my body and eventually teers in my eyes.

life is good

Your 4th of July sounded amazing. Beach houses are quite possibly the best things ever. Isn't Gloucester famous for a giant castle they have their too? Just thinking of being at the beach now makes me feel so happy.
