A Pink Ruger

04/11/2014

Well now, I didn't get a chance to write yesterday, because hubby and I were on the road from 8am to 8pm. Busy, busy, busy.

First off, we had to go and pick up my MIL, because she had an appointment to have her head checked. Hm...maybe I should explain that, lol. On the first of April, she went in for surgery to have a spot of keratosis removed...the doctor thought that it might be cancerous, because about two years ago, she had had another spot removed, and the doctor had taken a skin graph from her cheek.

But we got the results back, and the spot was NOT cancerous. Good news, check.

Along the way to the appointment, we had stopped by to pick up my BIL, so he was with us all day also.

After MIL's check up with the skin doctor, I don't think that he was a dermatologist, his office is located under the heading PLASTIC SURGEON, we had a few hours to kill before MIL had to be up to CancerCare for her chemotherapy.

My husband and his brother decided that they had to stop at Maine Military and stock up on bullets. See, they had gotten their combined guns together, and they wanted to go target shooting after all of these medical appointments were done.

I swear, you can NOT get two grown men out of a store that sells weapons and supplies! They are like kids in a candy store. Or, like my MIL said, like me in a yarn store.

After we had established MIL in the waiting room of the CancerCare, BIL, hubby and I went over to the local IGA, because we happen to like their chicken pot pies. By the time we got back up to the cancer ward, MIL was done with her treatment...she gets meds by an i.v. and then she gets a shot, most of the time in her ass. But, the oncologist says that the treatment is going well.

I'm not sure what that really means. I can't get a straight answer out of anyone. In the beginning of her treatment, I spoke privately to the oncologist, and he told me that the cancer will be cured or go away, but that they would be doing something called palliative care. The treatments just make it so that the cancer doesn't spread or grow, I guess.

Anyway, after MIL was all done, and we had brought her out to the car, hubby and BIL wanted to go target shooting, as they had been planning and talking excitedly about this all day long. And they had a special place in mind. It was off of a logging road, deep into a gravel pit.

So, we travel over an hour and 1/2 to get there, Kevin and Shawn set up the targets, and got bullets and guns all ready. We weren't there a half an hour, before a man drives up in a chevy blazer, gets out and waves his arms, yelling, "oh my god! do you guys have the keys to get out of here?!" Huh? Apparently the gates on both ends of the tote road had been shut and locked.

We were locked in between those gates. *rolling my eyes* Damn guys and their playing with their toys, got us locked in. And to make it worse, the guys in the blazer was three sheets to the wind.

Kev and Shawn put on their jackets and started walking up the road to a chip plant that was about 1/2 mile away. MIL and I stayed in our locked car, while Mr. Man sat in his blazer and drank one Michelob Light after another. Sitting behind the wheel! Ugh.

Long story short, there was somebody in the chip plant who had the keys. He unlocked the gate. We drove on home.

We let MIL and BIL out at their prospective houses, and headed to our house.

Long ass day. We both went to bed at 9:30.
