To a degree. I believe it helps yo along the way, but nothing is set in stone.

When I was about twenty. I moved away from home the first time and haven't moved back.

Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murikami. I wouldn't say it changed me, but it helped open my eyes to different perspectives.
