Unreal's Diary

Starting Off

05/29/2015

OK. I've been a member here for over a year. I joined after Open Diary closed down and I was devastated. But I have spent so much time reading other people's diaries and I never bothered typing in mine. So today I start. I don't know how to get a nice background or anything yet. I won't bore you with my life story but in short, I work as a legal secretary for a criminal lawyers in my home town of Edinburgh. I really enjoy this.

I will probably report daily (hopefully) with fun things (try to) and maybe some local news etc. Not sure how many British people are on Bloop as I don't know how to do a search the way I used to on OD. Anyway for all you Brits out there, you will know what I mean when I say the weather (summer) is horrendous. We have had no summer yet and May is always the hottest month in Scotland. I am still wrapped up in heavy winter coat and boots every day with my trusted brolly by my side. I was frozen solid all day today and my wee tiny office has one heater which comes on for one minute and off for five! So you have to wrap yourself round it to get any benefit at all.

Today's happenings, well yesterday was pay day and the stupid woman who does the wages forgot to pay our money into our banks (she was running late) so she gave everyone a cheque. This is no use as it takes seven days to clear and my mortgage comes off tomorrow! She wasn't the least bit bothered about how this was affecting people. Anyhoo, I ended up going to a Cheque Centre who wanted £70 for cashing it. I agreed. Handed over my passport, a recent letter with my address on it, bank card etc, all for ID and she said she couldn't accept it as she needed a utility bill!! I told her I don't have one as I have meters for gas and electricity and therefore no bills. She refused to budge. I was very angry with her and said "What more proof do you need woman"? Anyway, I then went to another cheque centre and they cashed it no bother and charged £37!! So mortgage no sorted.

Disaster this morning but it turned out OK. I left my monthly train ticket in the house. I have never done this before. It lives in my winter coat pocket as I know I will have it on all year round! But for some reason I must have taken it out. So on the train this morning and the ticket guy approached. I went into a sheer panic on realising it was missing. I had no money on me and no money in the bank. BUT for some strange reason, he walked right past me. Phew. So then I had the problem of how was I going to get past the ticket gestapo stationed at both entries to the station. I walked slowly forward and then a brainwave hit me. As she shouted out 'Tickets please', I said 'I am just making a short cut through the station'. She said 'Oh that's ok, on you go'. Ha ha. On the way home though I had to buy a single ticket but I had money by this time.

Tonight I am having a night in. Watching Britain's Got Talent and Coronation Street, which I have been doing every night this week. Disappointed with BGT this year but looking forward to the final on Sunday. Tomorrow we have a night out so that will be good. My man (Peter) is drunk on the couch. This is a rare occasion but he got paid yesterday so he is having a few beers. He is funny when he is drunk but it is just hard to make out what he is saying. So he is sleeping it off now and I am going to watch Emmerdale then head to bed.

I love soaps, I watch Coronation Street, Eastenders, Emmerdale, Home and Away and Neighbours. I very rarely watch them when they are on, I just tape them and catch up whenever I have time but I never miss an episode of any of them!

We have a gorgeous black and white cat (Buddy) who is snoring on the couch just now and has been all night. He comes alive during the night! Then we have a gorgeous curly haired Lhasodoodle called Teddy who is sleeping also. No children and no plans to have any! No patience for them although I have nothing against them. I have a neice and four nephews.

Looking forward to chatting with you all and making new friends. Maybe someone can help me get a nice background design.

Welcome! I'm also British, I am from Cardiff. Edinburgh is beautiful, from what I remember (went there 11 years ago). I'll add you to my favourites if that's ok
